A Trip To Utah..and Some Cross Stitch!

Good morning!
Last Wednesday we flew out of Chicago for a trip to Utah.. We have never been to Utah . so it was nice to have a couple days to explore! The photo above is from Logan .. It was so pretty there with the changing leaves and mountains! Doesn't it look like it could be a puzzle or a cross stitch ? :)
These photos were taken in the Cache National Forest
It smelled like Christmas in the mountains from all the trees!

Of course we had to go to Ogden to see Shepherd's Bush !
It was quite overwhelming seeing all the pretty models stitched up!
Look at all the Prairie Schooler Santa's stitched on large count fabric for pillows! OMG I had to bring some of that fabric home to make one myself! Aren't they just amazing!
I am doing the 2016 Santa on the big cloth.. it is 7 count! ( I will also stitch it small for my Santa tree)
I ordered my threads ( pearl cotton) so hopefully when they get here I will start it!

This cute witch was also done on a larger count and made into a pretty pillow ...isn't it the cutest! If you are ever near there you need to go and just gawk! :)

We saw Bison on Antelope Island..

We walked around Temple Square in Salt Lake city .. It was beautiful ..Look at this gorgeous house that was across the street ..
We went to Park City .. it was also very pretty there .
and then the reason we went to Utah .. the football game between Utah State and San Diego State..

We had great weather up until Friday and then it was a rainy mess! It was raining so hard during the game that water was flowing down the stairs like waterfalls ! But it was all good as San Diego State won the game 40-13.. and thankfully my husband insisted we buy rain ponchos otherwise we would have been more soaked than we already were!
We saw and did a lot in 3 days time and it was a very fun trip!

The Last Halloween Stitchy Finish

 Happy Monday!
I finished up the small chart from the Prairie Schooler Witches go Riding chart last week and got it ready to display today!
I used a thrift store frame painted with black chalkboard paint.. I used a black homespun check on the bias for the back I just glued the fabric onto the glass and cardboard that were in the frame :)  I mounted the stitching on sticky board and then hot glued to the homespun mat. I made a bow from a smaller check homespun and knotted the ends to wrap around the frame. I covered a big button in orange and black homespun

It's time to Trick or Treat Chalkboard

Trick or treat!
What do you do when you still L-O-V-E your pumpkin picking day chalkboard?
well of course you "carve" those pumpkins!
So I did carve the pumpkins ...erased the leaves on the pumpkin garland and added candy corn
The chalkboard is made with a thrifted frame.. a board cut to fit the inside and then painted with chalkboard paint.. It changes with the seasons and holidays..

It hangs in between our family room and kitchen and is one of my favorite seasonal decorations!

Knock Knock .. Halloween is Coming!

Good morning!
I have another Halloween finish! This was one of my #stitchmaynia starts back in May..
Knock Knock from Prairie Schooler..
I did change the ornage to gold for the windows, owl eyes and moon eyes.. I also filled in the 4 jack o lanterns in the corners eyes, noses and mouths.
I used a frame I found at Good will ,, The stitching is mounted on sticky needlework board and then glued to the top of the frame ,not inside the frame opening. I then cut strips of the black homespun check fabric and tied knots every couple inches and glued that around the outside and added a bow of the same fabric.
 ..
The other stitched piece on top of the aqua buffet is this Lizzie Kate 4 seasons Autumn..The fox and owls are salt and pepper shakers from BHG at Walmart..
The sofa table in the family room has this vignette on it .. An old window with a Halloween Banner.. When Witches go Riding from Prairie Schooler.. and Plum Street Samplers Ghoul Tidings.
Another vintage scale , thrift store baskets, mason jars, hydrangeas, sweater pumpkins ,crocheted pumpkins and real gourds and pumpkins are all on display!

Trick Or Treat Stitchy Finish!

 Good morning!
The 2 Judith Kirby Halloween Houses are all stitched and displayed! I started them a year ago last August :)

I had a hard time trying to find a way to display these that I really liked .. I bought things and took them back .. made something that didn't work .. but yesterday I was at Hobby Lobby and saw this Jack o Lantern  trick or treat sign .. 7.99 plus 40% off.. :)

( It looks kind of crooked in the hanging photos but it is straight.. Just hard to get good pics!)

So .. my husband cut a board for underneath the stitched piece and mat piece of black homespun check on the bias ..of course! Then drilled 2 holes in the board and 2 holes in the trick or treat sign ..added wires to connect .. then glued the homespun piece to the board..
 Isn't it c-u-t-e!
I stitched it on tea / coffee dyed light blue evenweave..
For now it is hanging from the shelf in the kitchen .. not sure where it will end up but I couldn't wait to show you!
