Halloween In The Foyer & A New Mirror

Today I am sharing more of our Halloween decorations! .. this time in the foyer. Since we did the remodel in the spring I have wanted a mirror to go above the table in the foyer. On Friday we found this one at Homegoods , and I think its perfect..
It is off white , distressed , and perfect :) ! On our stair railing I added some small Halloween signs with the leaf garlands and berry garlands.

I found the picnic basket at an estate sale for $5.00 .. I added 2 scarecrows scarecrow , fall garland and a big sweater pumpkin..
When we were painting the oak hutch for the kitchen , we also gave the table a new coat of paint.. On the table , I have a big glitter pumpkin on top of a candle holder, a wire cloche, and a couple new cross stitched pieces. Some little sparkly jack-o-lanterns , sweater pumpkins and of course a silver tray :)
This is what you see when you enter our house now.. Before the remodel there was a wall on the right, and the doorway to the kitchen was smaller. Now its totally open into the living room.
This weekend we headed down to Kentucky to the Alabama @ U.K. game.. The stadium was packed! Since our son is on the team ( he is a redshirt) he gets 4 tickets to each game.
There he is #90 on the sidelines.. It was great to see him and a fun 2 days !
Thanks for stopping by ! Hope you have a great week!

Book Page Pumpkins

Good Morning ! I am back with more of my Fall decorating. I saw some of these book page pumpkins floating around on Pinterest and had to try making them . This book page pumpkin sits on my foyer table.
To make one you need a hard cover book that you rip the cover off of but leave the glue strip that holds all the pages together.
I just drew the pumpkin shape I wanted on the first page and kept cutting a few pages at a time with that for a guide.

Once I got it all cut out I went out in the yard and got a stick for the stem.

I hot glued the stem on that hard part of the spine, then glue the 2 outside pages together so it makes a pumpkin shape. If you need to trim any you can do it now to make it more pumpkin like
After you get it glued together you will need to fluff the pages ..some of my pages refused to come together so if you wrinkle them up a little bit they do come together. This was a kind of thin book but it still turned out cute . I finished it off with a piece of burlap ribbon tied on the stem.

To add to the foyer decorations I bought this wood shape at Michaels .. I painted it with a coat of
chalk board paint, and just wrote a simple saying on it . Love it !!
It sits on top of a vintage tool box , filled with sweater pumpkins and fall florals. The tool box sits under the foyer table.
Still loving the sweater pumpkins , too! I love the wire cloche with a sweater pumpkin inside and dried hydrangeas surrounding it. Those 2 little glitter pumpkins came from the dollar tree.
I finished this Pumpkin Cottage cross stitch last year , I got the frame at Hobby Lobby . I was very excited to bring it out this year ! Wish I had a lot more Fall stitching to display !

I used an upside down amber colored margarita glass for a pedestal for this pumpkin. When I made the Fall subway art , I made 2 one for me and one for my daughter.. Since her new house is still under construction she's not ready to decorate for Fall , I get to use it :) Wait until you see all the projects we did at her house yesterday ! If you follow me on Instagram ( link in sidebar) you get to see what we are doing :)

In stitching news, I have been working on this With Thy Needle and Thread Freebie. Some of us are doing a #fall Fridaystitching .. so far I haven't been able to stitch on a Friday :) but I am fitting it in whenever I get some time ! I did mess up the border on the left side , but I am leaving it ! It will be fine :) I am hoping to finish it soon so it can actually make it out for this Fall !

9-11... we will never forget ...

Have a wonderful day .. Thanks as always for stopping by and your nice comments !

Christmas foyer and dining room 2012

Thanks for stopping by, Here is the Foyer decorated for Christmas. Theres a flocked garland over the mirror, a decomesh wreath hanging on the mirror. The stairs have a garland of evergreens ( real and fake) ribbons, some dollar tree ornaments and white lights.

There are Santas and snowmen , the vintage tool box under the table is filled with greens , hydrangias, a sign and a snowgirl.

this tree on the stairs is decorated with all felt ornaments, a twig and berry garland. No lights ( theres no outlet )!

Love these Dept. 56 Santas.. Mr and Mrs. Claus scrapbooking , and looking at the scrapbook.. are two of my favorites
I Made this coffee filter wreath 2 nights ago, Love how it looks hanging on the china cabinet. I added a sparkly silver reindeer and a gold organza ribbon. The cabinet holds more fitz and floyd and theres a garland across the top.

My husbands village.. He sets this up every year , He does such a good job.. The houses are a mix from Joann fabrics, Kohls and a couple dept. 56 pieces.

Fitz and floyd on the dining room buffet..
Thanks as always for your visits and comments ! Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season !

Football blanket is finished, and more "FALL" !

The ripple blanket for the college boy is finished! I made the football http://crochetncrafts.com/crochet/football-placemat.html from this pattern .. and then hand sewed it around the edge and a line down the middle. I was going to put his initials on the football, and tried making a B last night and it didn't look like a B .. Unless I cut them out of felt.. and sew them on.

This is a coffee filter wreath I made last year , I hung it over our foyer mirror .. I made the decomesh garland above it ..

The decomesh garland has ribbon, burlap ribbon and lots of sunflowers , leaves and some berries..

Last winter on Pinterest there was a big plank of wood like the fall sign that said JOY .. I had to make that sign and this is the backside of it , that I painted the word FALL on.. Just did this this morning.

The porch is in desperate need of pumpkins, gourds and cornstalks..I watered all the mums this morning and thats whats all over the cement.

Its hard to get decent photos in the foyer , but here is a little closer up shot of the decomesh garland..
Thanks for reading, and all your nice comments ! !
