Halloween Home Tour 2014

Good Morning !
Only 3 more days til Halloween ! Here is my Halloween Tour for this year ..We still have a ton of pumpkins surrounding our flower beds..
 The front porch is decorated with a decomesh garland and wreath.. A DIY Halloween picket fence countdown is on display.

 The pumpkins are carved and at night they are all lit up along with the garland surrounding the door.

 There are 22 jack-o-lanterns in that line and 6 in the topiaries by the door.

 In the kitchen the star of the show is the seasonal chalkboard..

 The table is set with Halloween dishes ..and the fall subway art table runner..

 My favorite new cross stitch finished on a hanging metal tray ..Love Prairie Schooler !

 A tray painted with chalkboard paint and a fall garland sit on top of the hutch with all the chickens..

 The galvanized tiered tray is filled with Halloween goodies!

 The dining room has touches of Halloween on the buffet , hutch and table..

 On the buffet ..love the cloche filled with gourds. Plum Street Samplers Cinnamon stars cross stitch is another of my favorite pieces !

 On the table...sweater pumpkins, stitching ,glitter pumpkins and a chicken soup tureen ..

 The foyer has another Prairie Schooler piece.. pumpkins, vintage scale holding mini pumpkins..and a book page pumpkin.

 The stairs have fall leaf garlands and white lights ..

 The fireplace mantel in the family room is decorated with a huge chalkboard jack o lantern in a flea market frame..a book page banner and , fall leaf garlands, crows and sweater pumpkins

 A table in the family room with more Halloween goodies .. witches , a ghost , stitching and more sweater pumpkins..

 The aqua buffet in the family room has some fall stitching pieces, vintage scale , and a stack of white pedestal plates..

Picket Fence Halloween Countdown

 While visiting Pinterest a few weeks ago I came across a wooden countdown  sign using this saying .. I love this saying as it is one of my favorite cross stitch pieces ! It was one of those phantom pins that lead to nowhere so I came up with my own version !

 We went to the Home Depot and bought 5 pieces of picket fence and had an employee cut 2 boards to attach them together. My daughter and I actually built this :) We then tried spray painting it but it wasn't covering good enough so we painted it off white.

It sat in the garage for a couple weeks before I had the guts to paint it. I just free handed the words. I used pencil to get everything where I wanted it then just painted away. I added a thrifted silver tray that I painted with chalkboard paint to use for the countdown.

 I added black and white check burlap ribbon to the top, a little banner from black and orange fabrics, and The little wood beware sign. I love it ! It looks fabulous on my front porch with my #spookyspaces wreath for Joann Fabrics !

 We are ready for all the Trick or Treaters to come ! And you can bet I have a Christmas version running around in my head :)

Halloween Front Door 2013

 My Front Door is all decorated for Halloween ! I participated in Joann Fabrics #spookyspaces event.  What better for a #spookyspaces craft than my front door. The wreath supplies can all be found at Joann Fabrics !

 I started with a round straw wreath ,( I do not remove the plastic covering) and some black and white stripe decomesh. I made 2 rows of loops , gathering the decomesh about every 6 inches. Pinning with floral pins and hot gluing over the pin for security.I started on the inside of the wreath going all the way around . then made another row of the decomesh loops around the outside.

 Here is the straw wreath with the 2 rows of decomesh.

 I then added black tulle bows.. I just made standard floral bows with 4 loops on each side , and glued them in.

 I took orange Haloween wired ribbon , made 2 loops and glued them together , then glued them in next to the tulle. The purple flowers are actually Christmas floral pics. They are super sparkly and look fabulous in the wreath .. they just kind of look like spooky flowers :)

 I bought the word BOO in wood letters , and used mod podge to attach a book page to each. I put the letter on the book page , traced it, cut it out , then used mod podge to both attach it to the wood and as a finish for the top of the letter. I was going to use those little wooden ghosts , but I couldn't find a place to use them ..

 When the mod podge dried , I used hot glue to outline each letter , then added purple glitter to the hot glue. Since thrifting and silver trays are so popular , I added the BOO bookpage letters to this small silver tray I got at the Goodwill for 79 cents. ( If you don't have a silver tray you could also buy a piece of cutout wood, paint it silver and use that in the center.) I used hot glue to secure them to the tray. I took thin wire and stuck it in the middle of the wreath , 3 rows of it , to secure the tray to .

 When I hang our wreaths I use fishing line to attach it to the storm door.

 I made the decomesh garland last year , I think it looks fantastic with my new wreath ! I will be back this week to share my picket fence sign  Hope I gave you some spooky inspiration !

 

I love how it all came together ! I think my front porch looks pretty spooktacular !
