It is December so it is time for a new chalkboard !

I used the red and green chalk again with the white ..

Don't laugh at my reindeer .. I freehanded them :) One of them is quite chubby :)

This chalkboard was made with a garage sale frame and a piece of wood cut at the Home Depot and painted with chalkboard paint.

Halloween Stitching

 Happy Halloween !
I am excited I actually finished this before Halloween ! This is the collection of Lizzie Kate Tingles patterns ..I had this idea to display it on picket fence boards and it actually looks cute ! I painted the fence light gray then used brown stain over the top.. I added a burlpa piece threaded throught the panels and a burlap bow with some Fall berries..
This is a big long stitching piece , and I am really not into frames on the wall.. So I got 3 picket fence pieces from Home Depot.. used 2 small pieces of wood across the back to hold them together with screws. I had the nice man at Home depot cut about 5 inches off the bottom of each fence piece.. I also bought a thin piece of wood that he cut to the size I needed to mount the stitching on. All of this was under $12.00 and  I still have a big piece of the thin wood left .

Right now its in the foyer ..not sure where it will end up..
I used magnets on the wood and a long piece of sheet metal on the back of the stitching. I have the Christmas Lizzie Kate patterns that I hope to get stitched before Christmas so I can use the fence for both !

I love how it turned out !
Yesterday these zinnias came out of my garden ..
This morning there were snow flurries !
Hope you have fun Halloween celebrations !!!

Halloween Mantel 2014

Good morning ! Last night I worked on the mantel for Halloween ..

I made a banner with book pages and letters cut on my Cricut . I just freehanded the banner shapes and cut 3 pages for each pennant, hot glued them together and then used mod podge on the top of them and to hold the silver glitter on the edges. I punched a hole into the top of each pennant then used ribbon to tie it to tulle ribbon .
I got the crows at the Dollar Tree store, and also that black drapey scary looking cloth under the banner. I used a branch from a tree in our yard to lay across the mantel for a crow to sit on.
It even looks good in black and white :)
Some of the crows hanging out ...I used off white sweater pumpkins to place the crows on..

My daughter had bought this frame at a flea market this summer for $5.00.. She has been working alot and hadn't got a board cut for it so I asked if I could borrow it for my Halloween mantel . It's a big frame.. the opening is 16 x 24..I got a piece of mdf cut at Home Depot for the inside and painted it with chalkboard paint. So its a win win for both of us ! I get to borrow it and she got her chalkboard :)

I left the leaf garlands from the Fall mantel and there are white lights added in..
Crows , an owl and sweater pumpkins..The glitter pumpkins are from Walmart ..I used those in the Fall mantel also ..

A close up of the banner..

I love how it turned out .. Thanks so much for visiting ! Thanks so much to Cozy Little house and A Stroll Thru Life for featuring my Fall home tour and Front Porch Ideas for featuring my Front Porch and Pumpkin Picking !

Planting Flowers in Thrift Store Baskets

Last week my daughter and I went to a local nursery ..They had the cutest baskets planted with flowers,
watering cans and wicker picnic hampers too ! The picnic hamper above is my daughters .. She loves those African daisies !
So off we went to the Goodwill and Salvation Army .. we bought a bunch of cheap baskets ..then on to the Home Depot to buy some flowers..

Here are our versions , our flowers need to grow in and we will need some warm weather for that !The above basket is huge ! On our way to Home Depot it was hanging out of someones garbage can :)
We used Miracle Grow potting soil and just planted right in the baskets. The baskets were 99 cents to $4.00 for the picnic hamper.
This basket was 99 cents and has a fabric liner..

These are my daughters..

I will show you all these again when they start to grow and fill in !
Hope you all have a wonderful week  ! Thanks so much for stopping by ! I would love for you to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest , Etsy..all the links are in the sidebar !

Happy Thanksgiving !

Happy Thanksgiving !

I had to crochet up this little turkey hat for the youngest grandson yesterday .. I used the pattern for an owl hat , made the beak bigger..made leaf like shapes for the feathers and a bigger kind of wonkey leaf for that dangly red thing .. He is so adorable and he will actually pose for you now :)

We got our real tree on Tuesday , IT'S HUGE .. and decorate it last night .. of course we had to run out and buy more lights because we had several strands that weren't working. I put white light on it too for the first time .. I thought it looked pretty with both the colored lights and white mixed. Its sitting in a galvanized bucket from an estate sale that I need to get down on my knees and scrape that label off the side ! This tree is filled with all our family ornaments , some from when I was a child..all the way up to the bread dough family ornaments we get each year at the craft shows. If you look at the front of the tree towards the top , my son and husband put a purple dog toy and I didn't even see it when I took this picture .. This is the 13th tree for this year ! I need to start showing you more of them !
Hope you all have a wonderful day filled with family and friends ! I have a 26 pound turkey waiting for me ! Happy Thanksgiving !

Turkey Cake Pops.. Bookpage Treetoppers and a Big Fat Tree !

We made turkey cake pops ! We have never tried to make cake pops , so what an experience it was !
You make a cake , crumble it and add frosting to it .. then roll out the balls and add your sticks. Then into the freezer for an hour .. so while we waited we made a book page tree topper for my daughters white tree :) we loaded it up with book page ornaments last week , so what a perfect tree topper !
After an hour you dip them in melted chocolate.. I used chocolate chips with a little Crisco.. if we make them again I will get the candy melts ..The chocolate chips seemed to go on really thick .It was hard to get them to look nice on the outside. You have to work pretty fast getting the chocolate on and if it was thinner it would have been easier!
We used candy corns for the tails and cut the ends off candy corn for the nose. I had white candy melts I melted for the eyes , then used a mini chocolate chip.. I used food coloring to make the white chocolate red for the little wobbly thing ( what is that called ) ? :) I should have made a small batch of royal icing for the eyes .. I will remember that for next year ..
I think they turned out cute for our first try.. even if some of them are a little scary :) I had to go to Pinterest last night and start a new cake pop board ...have to try some Christmas Cake pops !

We got our real tree yesterday .. its a Frasier fir , we got it from Home Depot.. Oh my its a big fat one ! This photo was taken when we first brought it in ..its fallen a lot more.. I got a galvanized bucket at an estate sale this summer to put the tree stand in ..I saw the bucket being used last Christmas on this blog .. I can't wait to decorate the tree !

Thanks so much for stopping by !
Hope you all have a wonderful family and friends filled Thanksgiving ! We will be missing our boy at the University of Kentucky this Thanksgiving .. football is still going on and there is even practice on Thanksgiving !
