My Patriotic Parade

Since July 4th is next week ,I thought I would do a little patriotic recap.. Here we go !

I am going to start with my favorite patriotic project ..the two stamped table runners I made. The top one is on my sister -in-laws table in Connecticut .  I made hers a lot bigger than mine because she has a wonderful HUGE farmhouse table . You can see my table runner post here .

My next favorite is the flag pillow redo ! I just love how this turned out . I redid the decomesh wreath and the flag pillow in this post . The decomesh flag wreath is the most popular post on my blog!
Next my daughter and I made these painted mason jars we saw on Pinterest . Here is the link to the jar post , and a link to the pinterest pin.
They turned out so super cute ! I am going to hate having to put them away !
I made this banner for my outdoor bike planter out of felt. you can read about it here ..

We made this trifle for Memorial Day , but I am sure we will be making one for the 4th of July .. It was easy and so cute ! The directions are here ..

And last but not least :) I finished up this patriotic stitching.  Its by Little House Needleworks.  I bought the frame at the Goodwill store for 99cents. It has a small mirror in the middle. I painted the frame an off white color and left some of the dark brown showing through. I mounted the stitching on mounting board and glued it to the frame. (Hot glue). I added a red gingham bow, a twine flower ( I made 2 bundles of 2 loops each and glued them together) then painted a little wood star navy and glued that on. Love how it came out ! It is sitting on my hall entry table , It needs a little easel.
I will end this post with some photos of my front porch decorated for our patriotic season !
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting ! Hope you have a great weekend !

Whats Going On In My Yard June 2013

I have a couple baskets like this hanging off the fence on the back patio. I bought the $6.99 little pots at Home Depot to fill them and they are growing great !
These are my potted potatoes >> Growing so tall . Yesterday we looked between the plants into the pots and there were potatoes showing . I added some more potting soil to the top , so hopefully the potatoes will keep growing.
The raspberry plants have doubled in size since last year ..which I love because they are my favorite :)
The berries are growing and hopefully in a week or two they will be ready.
These are the blackberry plants. HUGE , is all I can say .. It started with 3 little tiny plants .. Last year our crop got ruined with the horrible heat , so hopefully this year we won't have that problem again.

This is my little strawberry patch in the back of the garden .. so far over 10 pounds picked. There are a lot to pick now but we are having thunder, lightning and RAIN..and more RAIN..
The tomatoes seem to be doing great , there's a lot of little green tomatoes and blossoms . I have 13 plants and a bunch of volunteers that came up by themselves from last year .
More of the blackberry patch . I think its about 20 feet long .

Two weeks ago we had a tree on the edge of our property taken down.. It was amazing to see the guy up there taking it down piece by piece. Our neighbor , ( the house in the photo) told us the tree roots were messing with her sewer lines ..so we split the cost of taking it down. It was a huge tree, they said way over 100 years old. It was sad to see it go.
The flowers and plants in our front yard are doing amazing. You can see the pile of mulch left from the tree in the photo above. We still have a bunch , just don't know what to do with it all ! I think having the tree down will help my vegetable garden get more sun , so we will see :)

Our home is on the corner of a cul de sac, so we don't have a very big back yard. This is basically our back yard and side yard where our vegetable garden is . The big plants in the back of the garden are black raspberries . this is their second year, last year there were a few small berries , I think from the heat , but this year they are loaded with berries. Hopefully they keep getting bigger.
I did a little patriotic stitching. Its a Little house Needleworks design. Yesterday we went to the Goodwill and I found 2 small square frames that I came home and painted off white. I am going to use one of them to finish this off.

Strawberry Picking & Freezer Jam

Good Monday Morning ! Hope you had a great weekend ! Yesterday , we went strawberry picking at Thompsons Strawberry Farm. This is the same place we pick raspberries and pumpkins. We picked 6 containers of strawberries... 4 for me and 2 for my 2 oldest kids.
We made starwberry freezer jam out of 3 of my containers of strawberries , and we kept one to eat.
Our Walmart was out of this kind of Sure Jell , so I tried what they had and didn't like it and went to another store to get this. If you have never made freezer jam , it is very easy, especially if you use this box :) I follow the freezer jam recipe inside the box, you just mash your berries , add the sugar , and cook this pectin with water ..mix together and put in containers.

The youngest grandson had to taste every berry we put in the boxes.. he was so funny.

The two brothers .. you can see the strawberry face and shirt on the little one :)
This was our pickings from yesterday , aren't they gorgeous ?
I took this photo on Saturday night .. He loved the popsicle , and the faces he made were hysterical :)

We made another trifle.. This one has banana pudding , I used 2 pkgs of instant jello pudding. Whipped heavy cream, bananas and vanilla wafers. Got to love this photo with the vacuum and everyones shoes in the background :) Thats real life around here !
Hope you have a great week ! !

Baby Girl Owl Set

Hello ! Last week I had a request for a baby girl owl blanket and hat ... Isn't this just the cutest :)
I used Red Heart Yarn in 2 colors of pink and one color of brown ..I previously made this set for a boy , you can see that here ..

I have picked strawberries 3 times now out of the garden for a total ( so far) of 7-1/4 pounds.. Not too bad for my little patch !
I have made baby spinach , strawberry, apple and bacon salad with a balsamic vinagrette twice ( so good) !

My daughter made this box chocolate cake that we split open and topped with berries and whip cream ( Amazing !)
It was the oldest grandsons birthday on Sunday , so I made a white cake , bought some of that cool whip frosting ( its very good) used that in the middle with some strawberries , then topped it with more frosting , fresh strawberries and crushed oreos ! Looks fancy but so easy !

We have been having unusually cool weather in the low 50's last night , that it seems our garden is not growing as fast as it should! Supposed to be in the 90's this weekend so hopefully that will help. The only thing that is growing really good are my potatoes in pots ! They are huge ! This is my current crochet work in progress.. My daughter wants to do her room in grey and yellow, and she wants a chevron pattern..So I am making a grey and white ripple blanket and I found the pattern for these huge roses on pinterest..They are at least 6 inches across.. I plan on doing a couple clusters of them and maybe some smaller ones too on each end... here is the pattern for the roses. I am about 3 times this far on the blanket right now..

Thanks as always for visiting and your nice comments ! Have a great day !
