It's August!

 Good morning!
I am so excited to be finished with this August Prairie Schooler.. I put the last stitches in this morning and ran down the basement to finish it up!
It seems like summer has just flown by .. soon it will be time for Fall!

 I didn't like the horse that was charted on the pattern so I stitched the pig that was on the smaller chart and added a couple more chicks..I used a black plaid homespun on the bias for the backing.. it has gold and yellow checks so it is perfect.. The pedestal frame is from Michael's and I added burlap to the back of it with magnets on top ..and I use small pieces of sheet metal on the back of my stitching to change it out with the months..

 Don't you just love the chickens and the corn?

 I have it on the cabinet in the foyer with the August A Year In Chalk from Hands on Design..some vintage chickens ..vintage scale and lots of sunflowers! This is the last month I am doing until December.. I didn't really like the next 3 months ..so I might try to find something else to stitch that will fit the frame ..but then I will start back up with December and I still have January and February to do..

A Little Stitchy Update ...April 2016

Happy Saturday!
Here is a little update of what I have been stitching ! My daughter is getting married next month ..she did not find any ring bearer pillows she liked so I offered to stitch one for her . She wanted it to look chalkboardish so this is what I came up with. I still have to make it into a pillow but isn't that burlap and rhinestone trim amazing! This was my first time charting my own design and OMG its not easy . But I can say it is a one of a kind :)

I finished stitching Summer Breeze by Prairie Schooler

Started stitching the last design for the Seasons in Chalk series with Hands on Design and "me" for Just Cross Stitch Magazine.. This one is my favorite but I L-O-V-E them all !  The Summer design is out in the current issue..

I try to use Fridays to stitch on Fall designs so this one got worked on last night ..EEk there's a witch :) They are from Judith Kirby and you stitch them both together ..it is super cute! I just Love the fence !

I am keeping up with my Santa's Village from Country Cottage Needleworks ..One a month ..this month it was Mrs. Claus cookie cottage.. This is super cute but hard to get a good photo ..Saving the french knots until the whole piece is completed.

Well..that's it for now.. Have a great weekend! I have been happily working in the yard .It is finally warm enough ..and today I am tackling the compost pile and digging out all the compost . Got to get myself ready for that chore  ..LOL!

Stitching Away..

Good morning and happy Friday!
I thought I would give you a little update as to what I am stitching on ( besides Seasons In Chalk pieces I can't show you !)
I started Daffodils by Prairie Schooler and the above is 2 nights progress.. so far it seems to be going pretty quickly ( for me ) ! I really love this one and am hoping to stitch most of the months and be able to change the out however I end up finishing it ..

For Christmas I gifted my Sister in law the Year in Chalk series with the pedestal frame .. I only got six finished to send her so I am finishing up the remaining 6 with 4 left to stitch .. I already stitched this series for myself so this is the second time for me to stitch them ..

I am doing the Country Cottgae Needleworks Santa's Village series all in one piece.. trying for one a month and so far I am on track ..

Winter Stitchy Vignette Tour

Good morning! 

Since it's the last day of January I thought I would give you a winter stitchy tour :)

So last year I was all about the Year in Chalk from Hands On Design ..I could not wait to stitch it (me and chalkboards) :) I didn't receive the chart until January was over so this is the first time it has been on display for the month of January..It is in a pedestal frame from Michael's..mounted on black gingham..and sits in the foyer..

With Thy Needle and Threads January wordplay..Country Cottage Needleworks January cottage..and Lizzie Kate's 4 seasons Winter all are on display in the family room on the side table.. A vintage scale ..stack of coverless books.. greenery and white lights ..Tress snowflakes ..pine cones and a few cute deer round out the vignette

The deer came from Cracker Barrel this year ..they are ornaments and I just tucked the string to hang them behind them..

Little house Needleworks Woodland Sampler

Prairie Schooler Prairie Seasons Winter added to a grapevine wreath ..Love this wreath so much hanging on the kitchen hutch ..It doesn't hurt that I love everything in the cabinet behind the wreath either!

 In the galvanized tiered tray there is a little ornament from a Just Cross Stitch older ornament issue .. not sure if its Little House or Country Cottage Needleworks..And the Seasons in Chalk Winter (Hands On Design and Me from the current Just Cross Stitch Magazine) hangs on the dining room wall ..

Another piece in the foyer is Snow Sampler from Country Cottage Needleworks..

So right now I am stitching the 6th Seasons in Chalk ( hands on Design and me Just Cross Stitch Magazine)  wish I could show you :) but at least you get to see the colors! ( and a whole lot of dog hair on my fabric !)

and I have also started Santa's Village as one piece .. hoping to do one a month ..and I am also going to start Frosty Forest from Country Cottage Needleworks but that one will be done each chart separate . I have really fun finishing ideas for them both that I hope work out ...

Pretty soon it will be time to bring out the Spring stitching!

Winter In The Foyer 2016

 Good morning!
The foyer is filled with all things winter and I will take you on a little tour!

 I took the red ticking garland off this little tree and added some glittery silver snowflakes , silvery glitter branches , and black check  ribbon..

 The January Year in Chalk cross stitch sits on the green cabinet on top of a white pedestal cake plate. white and frosty evergreen branches , white lights and pine cones fill up the cabinet top..

 The stairs have white lights , burlap , black check ribbon and faux cotton branches..A DIY coffee filter wreath hangs over the cabinet..

 Country Cottage Needleworks Snow sampler sits by the front door in a flea market  basket surrounded by winter greens and berries with a big burlap bow..

 A vintage galvanized watering can sits on a wooden stool ..filled with faux cotton branches and evergreen picks.. A stack of thrift store picnic hampers holds this lit Putz type house..

 It's so nice on dreary winter days to have a little light :)

December's Stitchy Chalkboard

Happy Monday!

I finished stitching the last of the A Year In Chalk from Hands on Design last week, and got it finished up and put on the cabinet in the foyer.. Chalkboards and cross stitch .. 2 of my favorite things!

 I have to admit I skipped November since I jump from Halloween to all out Christmas decor :) I will be stitching the November one though since I am doing another whole set of these for a gift.. and yes I know it's early and I am skipping Thanksgiving ..but this is our families normal . We eat our Thanksgiving dinner in a house full of Christmas and LOVE it!

 I only have one tree left to put up and that is our real Frasier Fir that has not gotten picked out yet! I just need to get some time to take photos and get some blog posts written to show you!

I have loved stitching all of this series ..if you are a stitcher you need these in your life! :) I bought the pedestal frame at Michael's and use a magnet on the gingham mat and a piece of sheet metal on the back of the stitching to change them out every month!

The Pioneer Woman, Colorado and Football!

Happy Saturday!
Yesterday my daughter and I went to Naperville Illinois (about an hour and 15 minutes away) to get our cookbooks signed by Ree Drummond ,The Pioneer Woman..We shopped during the day ,had dinner then went to the book signing..So many beautiful shops full of pretty things in Naperville!  We were # 456 and 457 to get our books signed! Ree looks good for having signed all those books before us :)

Last weekend we flew into Denver and went to Colorado Springs.. We saw The Garden of The Gods..It was gorgeous and we had good weather the whole weekend!

We drove up Pike's Peak ..Couldn't drive all the way to the top..the last 5 miles were closed due to snow and ice..Isn't it beautiful!

Then on Saturday we were in Fort Collins at Colorado State to see my sons team San Diego State win another game ! WooHOO!

Halloween In The Foyer 2015

Good morning!

Here is my foyer decorated for Halloween ..

The stair railing has leaf and berry garlands with lots of little wooden Halloween signs..

 My favorite Halloween stitching Prairie Schooler When Witches go Riding is on display here ..with Hands on Design A year In Chalk for October..vintage scale and some sweater pumpkins finish off this vignette..

 Also this Lizzie Kate Tingles that I finished last year and mounted on fence pieces that I had cut down.

 Threadworks primitives and With thy Needle and thread pieces are on display by the front door

 Real pumpkins and gourds, thrifted picnic baskets and a galvanized watering can full of faux cotton branches..and a crow from the Dollar Tree
