A Snowy Banner

Happy Saturday friends!
I finished stitching these charts Snow Place Like Home from Country Cottage Needleworks last night..**** I realized after I uploaded my blog that I had the houses in the wrong order ! These next 2 photos are how I intended the banner to be with the bigger houses on the outside :) ***
My only explanation was that I stayed up til midnight finishing it :)
and you can read more about Winter Wonderland here..
There are 5 charts I only stitched 4 ..I left off the one with the words. I also changed the border on 2 of them so they were all the same snowflake border. I  removed the people and stitched the first charts snowman and trees , and changed that house to the ladybug color. I have had these charts since they came out so I am excited to have them finished!
I knew I wanted to make a banner from them ..so I mounted them to sticky board.. and ruffled some torn red gingham ..added greenery to the top .They were actually little greenery wreaths that I cut in half . I then added a bow of burlap and aqua ribbon and some red ticking.. I topped it all with a covered button.

I hung them from burlap with a red edge ..
and then hung the burlap from an icy greenery garland..

Right now they are hanging from the vintage window in the family room.. I might move them to the garland on the stairs .. we will see! :)
****Please remember if you copy my finishing ideas that you be considerate and give a link to my blog or facebook page..****

These are small ..about 4 x 4-1/2 inches so you can stitch one in a couple nights!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

It's A Frosty Forest!

Hello friends!
Woohoo! Look what I finished! So.. I started the Frosty Forest collection from Country Cottage Needleworks in January .. I was going to stitch one a month and I stuck to that for the first couple months then that went out the window! But I rallied here at the end to finish it! I stitched them with the called for threads and used tea/ coffee dyed light blue evenweave..
I knew I wanted a window to mount them in and it was hard to find one with enough panes.. but I found this one at the last flea market Chelsea and I went to.. It came this green color which is about the same green used in all the trees that were stitched..and the chippiness of the paint was already there! I did change out the knob because it was just a plain silver one..It is so great when what you imagine actually works out perfectly!
I mounted the stitching on sticky board.. then a mat of white on white polka dots..then a mat of aqua snowflakes.. I then glued the whole piece to a snowflake and added a covered button to the top of each one.. I used magnets and sheet metal to attach them just in case I find another series to stitch up for the window..
Chelsea cut me the frosty forest letters on her Cricut and I glittered them .. The top is a wreath I found at a church rummage sale for 1.00 my husband  cut it in half and the wires from the wreath slip down over the top to hold it in place.. I added battery operated lights and a couple snowflakes to the flocked greenery ..I knew I wasn't going to stitch the center word chart so I took the base off a bottle brush tree , cut the back off of it and glued it and a felt deer to another snowflake.. It is also attached with magnet and sheet metal..Can I tell you how excited I am that it is finished ! I think it will be placed on our stair landing ..I just put it here for photo taking!

Trick or Treat Window

Good morning friends!
I finished this Bent Creek piece a couple days ago and finished it up into a vintage window yesterday..

I dyed the fabric with tea and coffee then didn't think it was dark enough so I poured some brown Rit dye on it and rinsed it out .. All the colors I used are above .. this was a really quick stitch ..Long and skinny ..so I needed to find a cute way to finish it..
I found this window at the flea market last time and added the stitching to the bottom..My daughter Chelsea cut me the Trick or Treat letters on her Cricut .. I have a Cricut too but she has a newer version hooked up to her I Pad so it's easier for her to use than dragging my computer down the basement .. I attached them with a little adhesive so I can remove them and add another piece to the window for a different season..I also added a crow from The Dollar Tree on top...I added a band of black check homespun to each end of the piece ..

Thanks so much for your visit!

The Windows Are Up!

Good morning friends!
The windows are UP... And the wreaths are on them! I got these huge vintage windows at a flea market last month..we broke the glass out of them because one of the panes of glass was missing.. it made hanging them on the wall a lot easier ( and thanks to my son in law for doing the hanging) since they lost a lot of weight that way. Love the hardware on the left side.. I might try to find some old crusty hardware at the flea market to attach to the other side!

They couldn't be more perfect though in this great grey color since our walls are pale grey..
Lots of "Joy" for me having them on the wall!

The view from the kitchen.

I got the wreaths at Hobby Lobby .. I waited until they were 50% off..I thought the cotton wreaths will be perfect all year round The walls next to the china cabinet were so empty and these windows were just the right size to fill up those areas!
