The Kitchen Chalkboard Tree

 Good morning!
This is the only tree in the kitchen .. it is a white pencil 6 foot tree I found at Target a couple years ago ..

It is filled with chalkboard stitched ( Hands on Design)and drawn ornaments
candy cane ornaments ..Love the chenille candy canes!and lots of red and white and black and white ribbons ,, in photos the tree looks better unlit ..so that is why most of the photos the lights of the tree are off..
The tree sits right beside the kitchen hutch and I have it up on a wood crate .. The kitchen hutch is full of vintage Santa mugs filled with greenery and bottle brush trees..and lots of Rae Dunn ..The wreath is Prairie Schooler Seasons winter ..
I added real Fraser fir greenery to the Rae Dunn mixing bowls ..
I kept the first rag garland  our friend Rich sent us up  and then added greenery ..white lights and a diy pom pom garland ..
A Christmas cow from Hobby Lobby is attached to the vintage picnic basket .. cow creamers are up on top of the basket ..chickens ..one in a vintage galvanized bucket with a wreath around her neck ..line the top of the cabinet .. this hutch was oak at one time and I couldn't even give it away ..but a little chalk paint and its amazing!

and there is Calvin in one of his new favorite spots ..
I still have 2 of the chalkboard ornaments left to stitch from the series .. hopefully next year!

I love this tree .. I love all my trees ..who am I kidding :) and here is the tree with the lights on ..
Thanks so much for your visit!

The Chalkboard and Candy Cane tree

 Good morning!
Today I am sharing the only tree in the kitchen ,, this skinny white pencil tree..It is decorated with chalkboard ornaments both stitched and chalk markered versions.
this year I finished stitching  these 4 Hands On Design chalkboard ornaments..
I still have 2 more to stitch out of the 9 ...
I put the tree on top of a vintage wood crate so it would be taller and make more of an impact...
it looks pretty with and without lights.. for photos the ornaments show up better without the lights.. I think because it is a white tree..
I love it sitting next to the chalk painted hutch all decorated with Christmas goodness! The topper is a red gingham star ...couldn't be more perfect! A few red and white berry picks surround the topper..

In the bottom of the crate I added a glitter putz type house and a Santa in red checks on top of the crate.. I cut a hole in a thrift store basket that I dry brushed with off white chalk paint and slip it on the tree before I stick it in the stand for a tree skirt..

Lots of bows in black checks and red checks fill out the decorations..Bottle brush candy canes ...candy cane ornaments, and red and white ornaments fill the tree...

Stitched Chalkboard Ornaments

 Good morning!
The Christmas decorating has begun here ! Yesterday I decorated the kitchen tree with chalkboard ornaments so I had to get these out and finish them !
These are from Hands On Design and are the first of the 3 sets of chalkboard ornaments..
I used black gingham on the bias for the backs .. the holly leaves come with them but I had to add the covered buttons and some ribbons ..They are stitched on 28 count black Monaco evenweave..The Be Jolly I used white floss instead of the brown and I think on the rest of them I am going to switch out the brown for white ( or chalk)
 Don't you love them!?!

Ok.. back to decorating!

Christmas Kitchen 2013

I love to decorate our kitchen for Christmas ! This year I loved it even more because of the remodel ! So much more open so everything can be seen better!

The table is all set for lunch ! Wish you could all come over ! I have a huge thing for Fitz and Floyd Christmas pieces and they are all over the kitchen !
There is a Fitz and Floyd Santa on the table as a centerpiece.. The table is set with Dollar Tree white plates , the bowls and cups came from a church rummage sale, along with the big bowl ! My subway art table runner is on the table too.
There was a regular doorway here last year , we took about 4 feet off the wall and took out the header over the door so its more open..

This doorway got opened up too , along with taking down the wall in the foyer..

I love the candy cane kitchen tree even more this year with the addition of the chalkboard ornaments !
My daughter and I painted this oak hutch ,you can see the transformation here .
The inside is painted light grey , the same color as the living room /dining room..Its filled mostly with my estate sale , goodwill , rummage sale thrifty treasures !

A little vignette on the hutch , my vintage scale, a chalkboard, ice skate ornament and of course some Fitz and Floyd !

From the family room into the kitchen hangs this DIY chalkboard I made with a garage sale frame. I got the chairs for the table at an Estate sale for $35.00 for the 4 of them ..The table came from Craigs list.

I made this little framed chalkboard from a Good Will frame , wrote the word JOY and framed it with a little wreath .. More Fitz and Floyd on the vintage scale. Greenery and hydrangeas from the garden..

Here is another of my favorite Fitz and Floyd Santas.. he is in a thrifted basket with a miniature tree .
I love the wreaths in the windows at Christmas time.. I just bought wreaths at Michaels, added a few floral picks, and tie them up with red check ribbons. There is more Fitz and Floyd over the refrigerator with some greenery

Thanks so much for your visits and nice comments !
