Some Witchy Stitching...

Good morning friends!
Isn't this just the cutest Halloween piece!?!

Last year I had finally finished the 2 Halloween houses from Judith Kirby and found this hanging decoration at Hobby Lobby to hang it on...With that in mind .. my daughter stitched this With Thy Needle and Thread ..Bobbing for Pumpkins .. We found this sign at Michaels.. Her husband cut a board and drilled holes to attach the wires that were used to hang it from the sign.. I mounted the stitching on sticky board .. and then mounted black check homespun on sticky board.. glued them together and then glued the board to the back of the sticky board covered with homespun..
It is stitched on our regular tea/coffee dyed 28 count evenweave ..with all the called for "fancy flosses"
It is fabulous and I am sure she can't wait for Halloween decorating to hang it up!

Halloween Night!

Good morning friends!
Look at this cuteness!  My daughter stitched this Heart in Hand Halloween Night chart and I finished it for her last night ...
So... we found this shelf in the unpainted wood at Michael's and flipped it upside down.. she painted it with chalkboard paint..
I mounted the stitching on sticky board ..then I ruffled some black homespun check to add behind it ..
I used a fall pick from Michael's for the bottom decoration and did a little chalk design around it..It is super C-U-T-E ! I added a little Fall decor to the dining room hutch so for all of our You Tube viewers you will have something new to look at! See you tomorrow!

Stitching Daffodils

 Good morning!
I finished stitching this Prairie Schooler Daffodils last night and finished it up this morning..Yesterday I went to Michaels and found this pedestal ( frame I guess you could call it..) I stitched it on 28 count tea/coffee dyed Monaco ..I used all the called for thresds except I changed the white to ecru..and I didn't stitch the border around the piece.
It is sitting in the foyer with the March cottage from Country Cottage Needleworks ..A vintage scale ..birds and nests and I have still kept my little white lights from Christmas on the chest ... love the happy little lights ..and it is also snowing so why not have Christmas lights :)

This is what it looks like ..It was around $12.00 on sale.. Of course I want to stitch all the Prairie Schooler months so this frame will work perfectly to change them out.. I thought about using the back side of the frame and painting it because I didn't want the stitching so far in that you wouldn't be able to see it.

I ended up cutting a cardboard piece from a bolt of fabric the right size to put in the frame .. It doesnt matter that its not wide enough I just needed something to be able to adhere the next piece to ..that would raise it our of the frame enough to be seen.
So after that was glued in with hot glue ..I cut a piece of sticky mat board ( the size of the inside of the frame) and covered it with burlap .. It fits in there very snugly and I used a little bit of hot glue to adhere that to the cardboard bolt. I then mounted my finished stitching on another piece of sticky mat board ..then another piece of mat board with the blue gingham in a little bigger size. I glued the stitching to the blue gingham mat board . I used magnets on the frame and small pieces of sheet metal on the back of the gingham/ stitching ..and there you go... a way to change out the months!

Every month will probably have a different backing material but everything goes with burlap!

I also dry brushed grey acrylic paint on the top scrolly thing because it comes in a very royal blue .. You can still see a little of the blue peeking out but I like that look.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Spring Stitchy Clipboard

 Good morning!
Last week I was in Michael's and happened top wander into a clearance section and they had these cute clipboard frames for $6.00.
I knew instantly that I wanted to use it for these Country Cottage Needleworks patterns ..( don't mind my bent pattern ..The dog sat on it ) and just not stitch the bottom portion. I wanted the colors to be not so bright so I did change all of them except the browns. I stitched it on my go to for everything  :) tea/coffee dyed 28 count Monaco. ( colors I used are ecru,964,3849,224,223,3347,987) I used 1 strand of ecru and 1 strand of 964 to do the insides of the windows..and 1 strand of yellow and one of ecru to do the insides of the flowers.
I love the grey pattern in the back and also the chippy white board it sits on..

I mounted the stitching on sticky needlework board ..then cut a mat a little bigger and used green gingham on that piece .Glued the 2 together and added brown gingham covered buttons.

The pattern sitter .. I started and finished this on Sunday ..it was really fast to stitch up !

Dollar Tree Glittery Deer Wreath DIY

 Happy Friday!
I was in Dollar Tree a couple weeks ago to get some MORE Christmas balls.. and saw this cute vintagy.. glittery ..adorable deer sign for $1.00 ..So I knew it had to come home with me..for $1.00 :)
I decided to make it inot a wreath for my downstairs powder room..I hang a wreath on the window in there and it is painted an aqua color..perfect!
I used a grapevine wreath I already had.. you can see hot glue marks where it had been used before and I ripped all the stuff off and kept the wreath.. when they get faded don't toss thgem just rip it all off and add new :) I glued the ribbon hanger to the top of the wreath and tacked the sign to the wreath on the corners with hot glue. I had a evergreen piece that gets skinny on both ends... I know it came from Michaels a long time ago.. so I used that and 2 flocked sprigs on each side 70 % off at michaels ..so they were about 45 cents each .. Then I made a bow out of the leftover ribbon from doing my trees...a red gingham and a red plaid..
Isn't it the cutest ..?.. and by using things I already had.. It cost about $3.00! and just an FYI the wreath isn't crooked my picture is!

DIY Spring Wreaths

 Good morning !
A couple wreaths got made last week for my daughters house and they were very easy !
The tulip wreath used an oval grapevine wreath , 3 bunches of tulips from Michael's, a bow made from burlap and a wood letter..3 big leaves I took off some sunflower stems I had and hot glue..

I started by gluing the 3 leaves on .. I then added the 3 bunches of tulips ..stacking them. I stuck the stems into the wreath and then hot glued them in.. glued down the bow on top of the stems ,and added the wood letter we painted white..it took about 10 minutes .. Just lay it on your wreath and glue..

This wreath we used a grapevine wreath my daughter had gotten at a rummage sale for 25 cents and attached a garland from Hobby Lobby using pipe cleaners so she could take it off if she didn't like the wreath anymore..They were selling a wreath just like this at Hobby Lobby for $79.00 ..The garland was $20 with 50% off.
Remember the tulip wreaths we made last year ?

Aren't they both pretty and springy?

It hangs inside her house on the back door.. The other wispy wreath hangs on a gate on the wall in her family room

Stitching Chalkboards

 Good morning !
I was so excited when I saw this cross stitch series that looks like chalkboards..The designer is Hands On Design.. I finished the stitching this weekend and knew exactly how I wanted to finish these designs..
I had seen these cute little chalkboards at Michael's so I got my coupons out and picked one up ..

It is on dispay in the foyer, with some other wintery things..

I made a backing using black gingham check .. I might try to find a smaller check pattern fabric and change it out ..but this was what I already had here. I used my sheet metal ..magnet way to display it so I can just change it out for the next month.. I need to get February's stitched !
I finished another Prairie Schooler Santa last night .. I only have 6 of the yearly ones left to stitch ! I am hoping to get them all finished this year!

DIY Sunflower Wreath

Woo Hoo Sunflowers ! They are blooming in our yard right now , so I thought it was time to take down the daisy wreath and make a sunflower wreath..
I used 3 bunches of sunflowers and just pulled the flowers off the stems and hot glued them into a grapevine wreath. I added a few of the leaves just scattered around and hot glued. I layed out all the sunflowers before I started glueing so I made sure it was pretty even. The bunches I got had a couple different sizes of sunflowers. I got them at Michaels , they were $7.99 a bunch and 40 % off ..plus right now theres a coupon for 20% more off your total purchase.
Couldn't have been easier ! I also added a black and white burlap check ribbon to hang it ..

It looks summery , but you could also go into early fall with this wreath.
I have sunflowers blooming in the vegetable garden that peek over the fence into the front yard .. This planting area is new this year , I love the hydrangea tree... There are 2 incrediball hydrangeas on the right side of the tree and all the way on the end is a pinky winky hydrangea thats starting to bloom ! Can't wait to see it fully bloomed ! I still need more perrenials and mulch , but for now it is looking pretty good !
The sunflowers in the garden .. even a red one on the end.
I have alot of sunflowers that the birds and chipmunks plant for me , and all these in this coneflower patch are planted by the animals..

My zinnias are looking fabulous , I have so many patches of them growing ..wish I had acres of them growing !

Thanks so much for stopping by ! I will be back later this week to show you my blue puffy flower blanket , that is finally finished !
