January Squaredance

Good morning!
The January Squaredance from Heart In Hand is finished!
This took one evening to finish ..they are small so easy to accomplish ..

I switched up the floss colors.. and used Classic Colorworks Ribbon Red ..Black Coffee.. Bamboo and Rainshower .I stitched it on light grey 28 count evenweave that I coffee tea dyed ..

This is my 4th finish in the series .. and so far they are all fitting in the buffalo check canister (Hobby Lobby last year) I mounted the stitching on sticky board with 2 layers of batting .. then mounted the stitching to a buffalo check covered sticky board that I leave a lot of room at the top so I can add bow and other decoration...I used buffalo check ribbon for the bow .. a covered button  and some flocked greenery ..magnets attach it to the metal canister ..

Merry and Bright Mantel

Good morning! 

The mantel is all decorated for Christmas ! 

Santa is all dressed in his buffalo plaid outfit with his reindeer and chickens ..

all dogs no cat :)

all the stocking are hung .. all cross stitched except for one crewel embroidery ..The galvanized house lanterns ate from Walmart .. red and white houses from Michael's

I made pom pom garlands and added a buffalo plaid ribbon

I used flocked artificial greenery and real greenery from our Fraser fir .. white twinkle lights surround the chalkboard and the garlands .. I also added vintage shutters from a flea market with little wreaths hanging on them ..

Ronnie loves the mantel

Calvin has decided to join the party .. I made both of the quilts on the chair and ottoman and you can read more about the string quilt here and the rag quilt here

Two More Quilt as You Go String Quilts

Good morning!
There are 2 more quilts for the animals to wallow on ! :)

First of all the Christmas quilt I made with Walmart fat quarters ..They are 6-1/2 inch squares .. 9 squares wide and 13 squares long ..I added a white jelly roll to this quilt that I bought at Joanne fabrics ..I had this all sewn before Christmas but it needed backing and binding and I just couldn't fit that in ..so it got finished this weekend.

The second quilt is Farm Fresh Fabric from Moda .. these are  7-1/2 inch squares and we used the 8 inch precut batting squares from Fat Quarter Shop .. I used 2 jelly rolls and added red check and black check fabric cut in 2-1/2 inch strips

8 squares across and 11 squares down .. I sewed the jelly roll pieces together for a scrappy binding and used red checks for the back of the quilt ..don't you just love those fabrics ! Black , red , aqua ..with chickens and cows!

Can you tell the animals love them ? :)  I still have one more that is all finished except the binding .. just 4 inch squares of really pretty springy fabrics .. and Chelsea has a string quilt that just needs backing and binding ..

Let It Snow!

Hello friends !

I decided I didn't want just a wreath on the front door ...so off to Hobby Lobby I went !

I bought 3 wood letters ( unfinished ) and a small grapevine wreath .. I brought the letters home and painted them with chalkboard paint .. I then used chalk to outline them ..

because here in Illinois winter is just getting started ..so  we went from JOY on the front door to SNOW! Chelsea drilled holes in the letters and I used thin wire to attach them all together .. I added some cotton branches and buffalo check ribbons to the wreath along with some flocked greenery picks ..

It's another snowy day here .. only supposed to get about 4 inches .. but hey it is good for all the plants and grass!

Winter Wonderland Farm..Chalk On The Farm

 Good morning!
I am so excited to share the last instalment in the Chalk on the Farm series .. my chalkboard to cross stitch collaboration with Hands on Design!

 This is Winter Wonderland Farm .. and it was just such a fun piece to stitch! Even though you know I was stitching like a maniac! Between decorating the house for Christmas and these 2 pieces it was about 10 days of stitching! Not bad ..so you can definitely start it and have it up on the wall for winter!

 I stitched mine on black 28 count evenweave ..I mounted it on sticky board and then use magnets to attach to the frame ..which came from Hobby Lobby last winter .

 The chalkboards that Cathy charted the design from .. she does such an amazing job bringing these chalk pieces to life!

 I decided this morning to move this piece to the kitchen and swap it with the Chalk for the Home .. that one is now in the dining room ..

 Both pieces are included in the chart .. so get on a list with your favorite needlework shop to get yours!

 I love it so much and I know a lot of you were anxious to see it! I hope you all love it! Stay tuned today to our you tube to see more of it and Chelsea and I plan on doing a facebook live later to showcase it!

Christmas in the Bedroom

 Happy Friday!
I am so excited to show you my bedroom all decorated for Christmas! I was surprised ( shocked ) this year with my dream bedroom set by my husband .. This set has been pinned on my pinterest board for a couple years.. and it is more wonderful in person!

As you can tell Ronnie loves it :) I added a flocked garland from Walmart and a set of battery operated lights to the top of the headboard .. and above that a book page wreath that Chelsea and I made several years ago..

 As soon as the new bedroom set was delivered I had to buy a new tree .. so I got this 6 foot flocked tree from Walmart ..

 Merry Christmas from Country Cottage Needleworks .. Burlap Merry Christmas ribbons and the Rae Dunn lookalike ornaments Chelsea made us last year with her Cricut got moved up here ..

buffalo check ribbons  and 4 of the White Christmas ornaments from Hands on Design ..

 I added a tree farm sign for the topper.. and some glittery berry picks from Walmart

 Under the tree is the tree farm sign that was made from a gift bag last year with decoupage ..on top of a little quilt .

The farmhouse window that was also part of the birthday surprise ..It was supposed to go above the bed but its a little too big so for now its leaning against the wall with a little wreath 

 The bedding is a Martha Stewart duvet cover from Macy's a couple years ago .. the truck pillows are from Amazon last year ..all of it is covered in flocking .. it gets everywhere!

 On the dresser there is another flocked garland .. a little glitter house on a pedestal and a cream colored pom pom garland ..and also more of the Merry Christmas burlap ribbon

 I wake up still sometimes and think where am I ? :) I love it so much and to have it all Christmased up makes it even better!( The wall color is silver strand from Sherwin Williams )

The 2017 Santa Tree

Good morning friends! 

It's time for this years Prairie Schooler Santa Tree! This is one of the 4 trees in the living room..

 This year they got a new tree .. this flocked 6-1/2 foot tall tree.. The only thing bad about  a new flocked tree is the flocking sticks to the stitched  ornaments... but it looks so pretty , its just a little "snow" on them !I put this tree and the tree I showed you yesterday on bins because our Christmas village wraps around it ..You can see the bin in the above photo.. I have 4 of the yearly Santa's left to stitch .. I know I need to get on that! :) and many other leaflets of Santa's to stitch!

 They are all finished with different homespuns and ginghams ... such a treat to pull out these friends!

 I also add a  few Santa ornaments ...some vintage.. Lots of buffalo check ribbon this year ..

 White fur strips like Santa's suit is woven in and out of the tree..A big fabric Santa head is the tree topper with lots of buffalo check ribbons.. Just a warning.. there is a lot of buffalo check this year ! :) Love it!
