Chalkboards and Candy Canes Kitchen Tree

Happy Monday!
My second tree is the tree that is in our kitchen decorated with chalkboards and candy canes.. For the past 6 years I have used a fat white tree and once we removed part of the wall in the kitchen it was just too big. So I found this white pencil tree at Target and it is the perfect size for this area..

There is even one stitched chalkboard ornament on the tree ..I need more of those!( Hands On Design Just Cross Stitch Magazine)
The bottle brush candy canes are my favorites!

For the tree "skirt"I bought a basket at the Goodwill $2.99 ..cut off the handle..spray painted it dark grey and then dry brushed it with cream paint Cut a hole in the top and stuck the tree pole in it then into the tree stand which is mostly inside the basket ..

To top the tree I used this burlap red gingham star I found at Hobby Lobby a long time ago and some red and white berry picks from Michaels..

and there is the Ice skate tree in the background..

2014 in Chalkboards

Good Morning !
I thought I would share all the seasonal chalkboards that went on my big thrifted frame turned chalkboard in the kitchen ! January and February Baby it's cold outside !

In March Spring Has Sprung !

For Easter Peter Cottontail chalkboard

In April and May ..April showers bring May flowers

She's a Grand old flag was on the chalkboard in June and July

The Lazy days of summer ..in July

The August sunflower chalkboard

The Pumpkin picking chalkboard in September

Trick or Treat in October

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas in November..

and in December Santa Claus is coming to town !

Christmas In The Family Room 2014

Seven days until Christmas ! Today is Christmas in the family room..

I hung the book page wreath over the side table

There is a chalkboard on a thrifted silver tray .. Pedestal plated with Dollar Tree ornaments ..greens from the Christmas Tree and a strand of white lights draped over the whole table.. ..a vintage scale with a Dept. 56 Santa

On the chalk painted buffet..There is a book page tree ..a pedestal plate with thrift store putz houses...mason jars with Christmas lights ..a lantern with lights and greens .. Country Cottage Needleworks Silent Night framed on a thrift store sweater in a thrift store frame..Those sparkly reindeer came from Gordman's this year ...Aren't they pretty !

The view from the kitchen ..the mantel and the snowman tree..and the Scrapbook tree.

The mantel with the Home for Christmas Chalkboard, an all the cross stitched stockings..

This snowman tree is made on a 4ft tree.. I used muslin and stuffing to make the balls for the tree...This year I cut a piece of plaid homespun for the scarf and made a bow for the hat..There is one strand of lights draped on the branches..

On the coffee table.. 3 sparkly houses in a tray with Dollar Tree ornaments and silver branches..

The December stitching vignette is also in the family room...

The Americana Tree is also in the family room..

Christmas In The Kitchen 2014

Good Morning ! Come on into my favorite room to decorate for Christmas !

This room has only one tree..The candy cane tree..and one cross stitched piece on top of the shelf to the right..Lizzie Kates Christmas ABC

There are wreaths hanging in the windows...a garland on the light over the table

The seasonal diy chalkboard hangs on the wall..The Christmas subway art table runner is on the table..

Fitz and Floyd on a vintage scale ..mason jar snow scene..the chicken even has a wreath around his neck..Santa salt and pepper shakers..on top of an upside down thrift store basket..

Book page tree , saucers with ornaments and a cow creamer with flocked greenery on a silver tray..

More Fitz and Floyd on a tray with chickens in a cloche on a teacup..Another cow creamer with flocked greens..

Another Fitz and Floyd cookie jar on the back of the hutch with another vintage scale ..ice skate ornament ... bottle brush trees and mason jars..

The table is set with Dollar Tree white plates with small wreaths ..and the Santa dishes I got at a church rummage sale.. gingham fabric for the napkins..bottle brush candy cane ornaments sit in the Santa bowls..

The galvanized tiered tray sits on the table filled with Christmas goodies !

On top of the refrigerator cabinet there are a couple more Fitz and Floyd pieces and a box filled with greenery and a white chicken..

The basket vignette on the counter holds a big Fitz and Floyd Santa on his reindeer..greenery.. pinecones ..and a little putz type house..

The hutch is filled with thrifty finds.. Everything except the center Santa plate was found at Estate sales or Rummage sales.. The big Santa platter on the bottom I got at a church rummage sale this summer for 75 cents ! The Santa plate in the middle was bought for me when I was a baby from my parents..
