August Subway Art Table Runner

Good Monday Morning ! Today is the first day of school for my youngest .. He is a sophomore this year , and I can't believe I forgot to take that first day of school photo ! I will have to take one tomorrow ..
I finally got around to making a summer themed ( just for August ) subway art table runner. I used a few colors of yellow, grey, black and white paints..
Wish I would have had some sunflowers for the mason jar, but mine in the garden are all finished ..so I used black eyed susans, and yellow zinnias..

I use my big foam stamps that I bought for scrapbooking a few years ago, for most of the words and then I freehand paint and use fabric paint for the rest. I also sprinkled some glitter in places on the wet paint.

For the ruffle I used black and white check, and then the yellow used to be my kitchen window treatments. I knew there would be a good use for that fabric someday :) It is hard to get a good photo of the ruffle since we have a round table.. Makes it look uneven .

I also put my black white check and burlap decomesh wreath back up .. I think I will add some sunflowers with the daisies in the wreath to make it more end of summerish..
Pretty soon it will be time to decorate for Fall .. ( can't wait !)

Hope you have a great day ! I will be back tomorrow or Wednesday with my crochet update.. I finished the granny ripple and started another big flower blanket !

Thanks for stopping by and your nice comments !

The Chevron Blanket is Finished

It is finished ! (and all I can think about is what am I going to make next )!  :)
I just did a row of single crochet around it for a border. I only did the roses on one end , because they are kind of heavy and were a pain to sew on ! If you want the pattern for the roses or the ripple ,you can go back a few posts and I linked both of the patterns.

I also finished this patriotic stitching last night .. I am hoping to do all the months and have one frame that I change them out of. Its not on Aida cloth , so I am getting better :)

I planted lots of zinnia seeds in different parts of the garden and flower beds so that I could pick them to have bouquets all over the house. So far I just want to leave them out in the yard ! The ones above are little mini zinnias ..so cute !
These are kind of ruffled petals..
 and these are spotted ..
These in the back of the potato patch are big flowers , tall ones too.
My tomatoes are growing haphazardly everywhere .. I use tomato cages but the cages would have to be twice as tall as they are to contain them. I need to think of something different for next year, suggestions would be great !. There is a sunflower plant right in the middle of the tomatoes, ( planted by a bird or chipmunk) I am leaving it until it is finished flowering !
Yesterdays garden goodies... love the raspberries ! This is the view out of my kitchen window yesterday .. Love this time of year ! Thanks for stopping by and your nice comments !

Baby Girl Owl Set

Hello ! Last week I had a request for a baby girl owl blanket and hat ... Isn't this just the cutest :)
I used Red Heart Yarn in 2 colors of pink and one color of brown ..I previously made this set for a boy , you can see that here ..

I have picked strawberries 3 times now out of the garden for a total ( so far) of 7-1/4 pounds.. Not too bad for my little patch !
I have made baby spinach , strawberry, apple and bacon salad with a balsamic vinagrette twice ( so good) !

My daughter made this box chocolate cake that we split open and topped with berries and whip cream ( Amazing !)
It was the oldest grandsons birthday on Sunday , so I made a white cake , bought some of that cool whip frosting ( its very good) used that in the middle with some strawberries , then topped it with more frosting , fresh strawberries and crushed oreos ! Looks fancy but so easy !

We have been having unusually cool weather in the low 50's last night , that it seems our garden is not growing as fast as it should! Supposed to be in the 90's this weekend so hopefully that will help. The only thing that is growing really good are my potatoes in pots ! They are huge ! This is my current crochet work in progress.. My daughter wants to do her room in grey and yellow, and she wants a chevron pattern..So I am making a grey and white ripple blanket and I found the pattern for these huge roses on pinterest..They are at least 6 inches across.. I plan on doing a couple clusters of them and maybe some smaller ones too on each end... here is the pattern for the roses. I am about 3 times this far on the blanket right now..

Thanks as always for visiting and your nice comments ! Have a great day !
