This is my husbands job at Christmas time to get the village set up ..
We have 50 buildings and an ice rink this year .. For risers he uses boards .. plastic crates .. wood blocks ..and sometimes even boxes
this gas station is new ( but not "new") because I found it at the Goodwill ..
Lots of the buildings have been thrift store finds .. even the ice rink was found at the Goodwill
churches. houses, stores every kind of building you can think of ..
The village wraps around 2 trees in the living room ..the red truck tree and the Santa tree.. The trees are set up on the bins that the Christmas decorations came out of ..

Mickey's water tower stands over the ice rink .. it's not Christmas until the skaters are skating :)
The pets all hang out around the village .. and Calvin's favorite spot is right behind the red truck tree.. He trots through the village like Godzilla to get to it ..
There are buildings from Department 56 ..Joann Fabrics and St. Nicholas Square ( Kohls)
always in close range .. He is a village cat :)

I already showed you my tiered tray for Christmas ...
But I saw a tiered tray of vintage Santa mugs on Instagram and I couldn't stop thinking about it ! SLCook52 is the account and her decorating is fabulous ..I displayed most of my vintage Santa mugs in the hutch and you really couldn't see them well and they are one of my favorites in my Christmas Decor . So I googled white enamel tray , and didn't find anything I liked .. but I had to go to Hobby Lobby for some cross stitch finishing supplies ...
and there was this tray .. 50% off so $17.50 .. and as fast as I could get it in the cart it was on its way here to be filled with Santa mugs!
It is a lot smaller than my other tiered tray .. I think this is the same size we decorated at the Fat Quarter shop this spring .. but for my Santa mug collection it was perfect!

I added some flocked greenery and berries .. there are fairy lights woven through the trays .. a little Dec 25 sign with a tiny mug on top ..
I love the tray and am glad I tried something different .. I do have a lot of other vintage Santa mugs sprinkled through my vignettes but it is so nice to see this grouping of them front and center on the table ..
These two are my favorites .. they are double sided .. Santa on the front Mrs. Claus on the back .. I got one of them for Christmas a couple years ago and found another on Ebay so you can see both at the same time .. The faces on Santa are different on each cup ..I also love their vintage bottle brush trees ..

and of course Calvin doesn't like it because it is not Halloween ..
This thrifted chalkboard hangs in my kitchen and gets changed out for all the seasons and holidays! Santa .. his reindeer ..chickens and poinsettias lining the sidewalk .. and of course a little truck with a chicken decorating the tree ..
