Strawberry Picking & Freezer Jam

Good Monday Morning ! Hope you had a great weekend ! Yesterday , we went strawberry picking at Thompsons Strawberry Farm. This is the same place we pick raspberries and pumpkins. We picked 6 containers of strawberries... 4 for me and 2 for my 2 oldest kids.
We made starwberry freezer jam out of 3 of my containers of strawberries , and we kept one to eat.
Our Walmart was out of this kind of Sure Jell , so I tried what they had and didn't like it and went to another store to get this. If you have never made freezer jam , it is very easy, especially if you use this box :) I follow the freezer jam recipe inside the box, you just mash your berries , add the sugar , and cook this pectin with water ..mix together and put in containers.

The youngest grandson had to taste every berry we put in the boxes.. he was so funny.

The two brothers .. you can see the strawberry face and shirt on the little one :)
This was our pickings from yesterday , aren't they gorgeous ?
I took this photo on Saturday night .. He loved the popsicle , and the faces he made were hysterical :)

We made another trifle.. This one has banana pudding , I used 2 pkgs of instant jello pudding. Whipped heavy cream, bananas and vanilla wafers. Got to love this photo with the vacuum and everyones shoes in the background :) Thats real life around here !
Hope you have a great week ! !

Baby Girl Owl Set

Hello ! Last week I had a request for a baby girl owl blanket and hat ... Isn't this just the cutest :)
I used Red Heart Yarn in 2 colors of pink and one color of brown ..I previously made this set for a boy , you can see that here ..

I have picked strawberries 3 times now out of the garden for a total ( so far) of 7-1/4 pounds.. Not too bad for my little patch !
I have made baby spinach , strawberry, apple and bacon salad with a balsamic vinagrette twice ( so good) !

My daughter made this box chocolate cake that we split open and topped with berries and whip cream ( Amazing !)
It was the oldest grandsons birthday on Sunday , so I made a white cake , bought some of that cool whip frosting ( its very good) used that in the middle with some strawberries , then topped it with more frosting , fresh strawberries and crushed oreos ! Looks fancy but so easy !

We have been having unusually cool weather in the low 50's last night , that it seems our garden is not growing as fast as it should! Supposed to be in the 90's this weekend so hopefully that will help. The only thing that is growing really good are my potatoes in pots ! They are huge ! This is my current crochet work in progress.. My daughter wants to do her room in grey and yellow, and she wants a chevron pattern..So I am making a grey and white ripple blanket and I found the pattern for these huge roses on pinterest..They are at least 6 inches across.. I plan on doing a couple clusters of them and maybe some smaller ones too on each end... here is the pattern for the roses. I am about 3 times this far on the blanket right now..

Thanks as always for visiting and your nice comments ! Have a great day !

Memorial Day Trifle

I just wanted to show you the dessert my daughter and I made yesterday for Memorial Day..we saw this idea here on Pinterest .

This all started by running through our local mall on Sunday evening trying to find a trifle dish .. we finally found one with a few minutes to spare until all the stores closed :)
We bought a frozen Sara Lee pound cake and cut it lengthwise into about 3/4 inch slices... Mixed up a batch of whipped cream with a little sugar.. cut the strawberries into thirds lengthwise , added the blueberries and a little sugar.
We started the layers by adding whip cream , some of the pound cake scraps , berries then tried to place the pound cake stars around the sides .
We kept it in the refridgerator until it was time to eat . It was so good ! Can't wait to make it again :)

There is a sneak peek of my newest table runner. I haven't been able to finish it yet , I have been so busy , but it will be coming soon , and I think it is my all time favorite !
This was our weather yesterday , gloomy and chilly ..I think it is going to rain all week !
Photo op with the baby :)
We took Mr. Adorable for ice cream .. I think he liked it !!
Hope you all had a nice weekend with family and friends !

Thanks as always for stopping by and your nice comments !

Baby ripple

I had some blue baby yarn left over from making the new grandson a couple blankets..so I decided to make one to keep at our house since he and his brother were spending the night last week.. Its the same baby ripple I made before where you work the row only in the back stitches..I got the terry cloth looking yarn to add to the top at walmart.

Seems he likes his new blanket !

The never ending Lizzie Kate Halloween abc.. seems I get stitchers ADD every time I start to work on it , I think theres something else I must need to do and jump up to do it!   :)

Pioneer woman baked potato skins..made these last night ,they are so good ! A little time consuming ,but my boys gobbled them up..the potatoes I used were pretty small so they were like 2 bites each. Will definately make them again. They ate them with sour cream on top , and one of the boys dipped them in bbq sauce. But he dips everything in bbq sauce...

Made these chocolate covered strawberries yesterday too..way too good !

Hope you are having a great, relaxing weekend ..I think today we are digging up most of the potatoes in my garden..hope there is alot !
Thanks for reading my blog and your nice comments !!

Memorial day

We had a wonderful Memorial day and hope you did too ! Used those home grown strawberries for the flag cake and for the watermelon fruit basket. Its the first time I tried making the watermelon basket and it was super easy and super cute !!!

My sons girlfriend brought over the mums ..so cute !

My daughter and her baby nephew..
the youngest son , who graduates from 8th grade today with the 17 year old son behind him , acting goofy as always ! We cooked out, hamburgers and hot dogs..had lots of salads,,,potatato salad, broccoli bacon cheese salad, pasta salad, fruit salad..Veggie tray and buffalo wings for appetizers..  and of course the flag cake for dessert !
Picked 4 more pounds of strawberries this morning.. 10-3/4 pounds so far ..

Hung my patriotic decomesh wreath on the back fence , with some decomesh draped behind it. We couldn't put it on the front door because there are still birds living in the spring wreath. Hope you all had a great weekend !  Thanks for reading !
