I finished the border and sewing in the ends on the front yesterday..Oh my gosh there was a ton ! This was the second border I did. Ripped out the 4 rows of the first border.. Just didn't think it went well with the blanket. For the border I did 3 rows of single crochet and then a v stitch using single crochet instead of double crochet.
You can see the join as you go stitches connecting the squares in this photo. I have wanted to make a granny square blanket with all different color squares but didn't know how to join them without having to use one color to crochet them together.I used up alot of my small yarn balls.. didn't have to buy that much yarn to complete this .
This was the first border.. I had two layers of ruffles.. I think the blanket was too busy for this border. You can see the join as you go stitches connecting the squares in this photo. Still stitching my Prairie Schooler Santas.. Finished the fisherman and almost finished with the flower cart Santa.. Going to have to make them into ornaments soon !

What a wonderful colorful blanket!
Greetings
I know nothing about crocheting, but I know this is one gorgeous blanket, Priscilla!! And those PS Santas are so cute--I really need to go back and stitch those older ones, too.
This is quite the work of artistic gorgeousness! I have one I started a few months ago...I have completed twenty squares...do you think I have a gazillion left? Why, yes I do! I picked it up tonight and added three squares. I was in the mood for mindless. But, oh do I relate on all the ends to be woven. I've made myself a solemn vow to do it as I go...so far I'm sticking to the vow. Agree with you on the border you chose to replace. In this case, less is definitely more! Well done, my friend. Great sticktuitiveness! Hugs, Annette
Oh,my! You really have been busy. Your afghan turned out so pretty! Makes mine look so plain. I know it takes lots of time to chain all the colors on each square. Your afghan is so colorful an happy!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Wow! Your afghan is beautiful. I know it takes a lot of time. You have done a beautiful job. It is truly a treasure. Thanks for sharing. Karie
Your blanket is gorgeous, Priscilla! I'm in awe of anyone who can crochet like that -- I SO want to learn!
Love that stash busting granny, so colorful and bright! I know all about tucking those loose ends in and it is a headache, so I make myself do it with each square completed and it is the best feeling ever not to have to deal with them in the end.
Susanne :)
Absolutely beautiful! Love how you matched your colors.
OH what a lot of work and talent went into this!!!
