May in the Tiered Tray

 Good morning!
As I said yesterday I would be back with another finish today ..and here it is! For a while I have wanted to stitch some small pieces to add into my tiered trays... and look how perfect it looks!
This is from the May/June chartpacks that include all the Classic Colorworks floss,, I did change the color of the house and that floss color is shown below..
The tray sits on my kitchen counter , and holds so many goodies and I just love decorating it for the seasons! There is the Country Cottage Needleworks Spring on the other counter and on the dining room wall is Spring from Just Cross Stitch Magazine .. the chalkboard collaboration between Hands On Design and me :)
I mounted the stitching onto sticky needlework board and then did a blue gingham for the background also on sticky needlework board . They got glued together and then I added a simple bow tied from a strip of ripped dark red homespun.
Deep Blue Sea is the color I used for the house. Hopefully I get June finished in time! Have a great weekend!

A Vintage Window and a Nest...

Hello friends!
Hope you have had a great week so far ..It is almost the weekend!
A few days ago I finished stitching Where Hearts Rest by With Thy Needle and Thread. I didn't have an idea how I would like to finish it, and I searched my basement for a frame but I had nothing.
***Please remember if you copy my finishing ideas that you be considerate and give a link to my blog or facebook page..****
Today I had the idea to put it in a wreath on the vintage window in my family room so that's what i did! I had a small cotton branch wreath there but it just wasn't big enough ..

I mounted the stitching on sticky needlework board and the same for the dark red homespun check. Glued those two together. Then I made a bow out of some twine wired ribbon that I had taken off a Fall decomesh wreath that I was throwing away. I added some of the burlap ribbon with the aqua center ..then took a nest from my Spring decorations and glued it to the top of the bows. I converted the floss to mostly Classic Colorworks in the colors ..Colonial Rose.. Calico Kitty .. Manor red.. Wagon wheel.. Polliwog.. Olive Branch.. Rain Shower.. Khaki Mocha.. Hazelnut ..I also used Weeks Olive

I added some of the thistle balls and also some little daisy looking flowers. I Added a strip of the homespun fabric for hanging and there it is ..Done .. and I love it! ( of course I do or I wouldn't be showing you!)
I will be back tomorrow with another finish!

A Chicken on the Chalkboard

 Happy Wednesday!
Well.. the bunny chalkboard had to go.. loved that bunny!
Love that one.. so.. I wanted to replace it with another animal.. and what better than a chicken since my kitchen is full of them!
I seriously don't know if I will be able to erase this one! The chalkboard is a thrifty purchase with a board cut to fit ..painted with chalkboard paint. It gets changed out almost monthly with the seasons..
My daughter has real chickens at her house and below is a photo one of her chickens..
Image may contain: plant, tree, outdoor and nature
So there you go.. chalkboard chicken and real chicken! :) Have a great day!

A Truck Full of Daisies

Good morning!
Yesterday I changed out the tulips for daisies on the family room mantel and decided it was time for a new chalkboard!
It was time for the tulips to go..

so whats better than a mason jar full of tulips? A truck full of daisies!
This chalkboard is from a  photo collage frame from Hobby Lobby..I wasn't liking it anymore so I was impatient and painted the mat with chalkboard paint instead of having a board cut . I definitely need to have a board cut to fit since its really hard to get all the chalk residue off the mat board!
You can't see very much of it in this photo , but I painted the coffee table a couple weeks ago. It was really dark wood and was really nicked and scratched up.. so some linen white chalk paint to the rescue with some distressing. I love the change!

Welcome Home!

Good morning!
Don't you just love red and aqua... and gingham and daisies? :)
This week I was taking down all my Easterish stitched pieces and I was sad to see I don't have very many pieces that are for late spring.. So I went digging through my projects and I took this one out that I had started a couple years ago ..It's Welcome Home from Country Cottage Needleworks. I did change the called for red to Classic Colorworks Ribbon Red.. all the rest is as charted. I did leave out the butterflies.
I finished  stitching it yesterday and finished it up for display this morning. I used black gingham for the back of the frame .The frame is from the Good Will and was $1.99 ..it was gold and I chalk painted it off white.
I used red gingham for the bow and added a few daisies.

It's sitting on top of a vintage scale in the family room..I finally hung up the vintage window my husband had brought home for me.. It was just leaning against the wall.. and I added a cotton branch wreath to it.
Well...that's it for me today ..I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Chickens and Daisies in The Galvanized Tiered Tray

 Good morning!
It was time! Time to change all the bunnies and tulips out of the galvanized tiered tray for Daisies and chickens! This tray is one of my favorite decorating pieces and gets changed out with the seasons and holidays.
I love the daisies with black and white check so I added a few ribbon bows here and there.
vintage chickens are my favorite and I have a few in the tray.. The tray sits on my kitchen counter and is filled with lots of goodies!
Some of them have just been bought at thrift shops or flea markets, and a couple from Homegoods.

Chalk painted  Mason jars filled with daisies sit in the top tier. There is also a blossom garland woven around that tier. Love the little chicken on her basket nest..

Lots of daisies.. got to fill her up!
If you are still looking for one of these tiered trays I know my Sam's club had them in again a few weeks ago..

A Stitchy Update

Happy Monday!
So .. I need to tell you something.. my daughter is spoiled ! :) I finally got her to be a stitcher..OMG I'm excited!
So what happens after she stitches a piece ? She drops it off here for me to finish for her !
 Spoiled I tell you :)
She so far has been stitching on Aida.. hoping to at least get her to 28 count evenweave . She stitched the Country Cottage Needleworks Summer and I finished it into a wreath today .. used red checks.. yellow check covered buttons and finished it on a wreath with a few daisies.. so she just needs to stitch the next three seasons and change them out.
Shes also stitched Lizzie Kate's Spring cottage .. I finished it onto a frame from The Goodwill ..that I painted with chalk paint...I added a bow and a covered button to the top ..

Her first piece was the little Farm Lizzie Kate , which I also finished into a thrift store frame..

Now for what I have been stitching.. On Fridays I try to do some Fall stitching so I have been working on Prairie Schooler Autumn leaves..
Sundays I try to stitch Christmas .. so yesterday I stitched this Little House Needleworks 2016 ornament. I am almost finished with it , I will show it to you again when its fully finished.
I started on my patriotic stitching with another Little House Needleworks piece..
And one chart a month in the Country Cottage Needleworks Frosty Forest ..I am keeping up!
I have also stitched a few more of the chalkboard ornaments from Hands On Design . I have 2 left of the 9 ornaments to stitch..
So that's it for what I am stitching ..

I love black and white gingham!

Good morning..happy Friday!
I do love black and white check..
I have a couple little spring bunny finishes to show you..
I made some changes to this Lizzie Kate ..I used DMC black for the letters and 3865 for the white. The little bunny on the top I found on a Prairie Schooler chart and the one towards the bottom I just stitched and I think he turned out pretty cute!
I finished it into a 99 cent Goodwill frame that I added some pink gingham to the mat board that was inside the frame and mounted my stitching onto sticky board. Black gingham bow and a pink gingham covered button finish it up... I have it in the oval shaped tiered tray in my family room..
Isn't it C-U-T-E !
Next up is this April Lizzie Kate.. I changed the colors (you can see what I used in the photo) and it is just adorable..
I am loving these little pieces to add into my vignettes..and of course it's on black and white gingham! I have done February, March and April of these and have a magnet on the frame and a small piece of sheet metal on the back of each stitched piece to change them out.

Have a wonderful weekend!
