Making Doughnuts From Refrigerator Biscuits

Have you ever made doughnuts from refrigerator biscuits ? They are amazing topped with cinnamon and sugar !

I use these Grands biscuits from Pillsbury ..
You need to separate each biscuit into 2 pieces , otherwise they are too thick to cook evenly.
After you split them cut a hole in the center.. I used my cookie scoop :)
Mix up about 1/2 cup of sugar and a couple tsp. of cinnamon..
Heat your oil...I use canola oil..I only use about 1 inch of oil in a small saucepan to fry them .. it only takes a couple minutes each side .. Don't let them get too brown..
Turn over when you can see the sides getting a little brown, drain on paper towels then dredge in the sugar cinnamon mixture..Fry up the holes you cut out too.. They are fabulous :)
Your kids will LOVE these ! We have also sprinkled them with powdered sugar , or you could make a glaze or a chocolate glaze..

Family Silver Trays With Book-Page Flowers and a Giveaway!

Good Morning! I am so excited for this project!

I am here to share my version of the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club  Platter Wall Hangings. Silver trays are such the rage right now, as are chalkboards and crafts made with book pages! So exciting that you can get these beauties for $1.00! Click on over to see the Dollar Tree version, and get your supply list.

I used 3 trays …2 oval and one round. I painted the back of the round tray with chalkboard paint, it takes at least 2 coats to cover…  When it dried I added the Family saying with chalk. I used the vinyl shelf paper with white glue to attach it to the oval trays.

To make the flowers you need pages from a book and coffee filters, both are available at Dollar Tree. I used 3 coffee filters for each flower and 2 book page flower cutouts.
Fold each filter in half then in half again... and bundle all three folded filters.

Cut an x in the center of the book page flowers and insert the end of the coffee filter bundles. Hot glue together, then hot glue to the platter. I used 3 flowers for the round chalkboard tray and one flower on each of the oval trays.

I used the silver trays on the wall shelf in my kitchen. It needed some new life after the Christmas decorations came down!

Now for the giveaway! I am giving away a $100.00 Dollar Tree Gift Card to one lucky reader! Go sign up for the Value Seekers Club (it’s free and has lots of great ideas), then come back and leave me a comment of what project you would like to try and of course your email so I can contact you! Winter In The Family Room

Good Morning ! Hope you are all staying warm ! I am sharing our winter decorations in the family room today! I keep up one of the snowman trees at least til the end of January..

I left the vintage sled on top of the aqua cabinet, and added a winter chalkboard on a silver tray, sitting on a snowman chair , ice skate ornaments , ice skates and a lantern ..
On the sofa table, I used a snowman platter, another winter chalkboard, lanterns and more skates..
I used this wooden box to hold a glitter house( my daughter got me this one and also the one in the foyer this year ! Love them ) , 2 jack russells ,some snowflakes and silver branches..
I decided to take the glittery floral picks off the top of the tree and crochet the snowman a scarf ! Doesn't it just look wintery ?
All the ornaments on this tree are snowmen , there are alot of cross stitched ornaments..
I left the glitter houses and white garland on the mantel, took down the White Christmas sign and put the clock back up..

I love having the tree and garland lit , its so cozy for the winter..

I left the glitter houses on the coffee table ..all these decorations will stay put until the end of January , maybe into February..

Thanks so much for stopping by !
I started a new granny square blanket yesterday , I will show you my progress soon :)

Winter In The Foyer

Good Morning ! It's another frigid day here in the Chicago suburbs.. No school again for the youngest ! I am sharing our foyer decorated for Winter ..On New Years Eve day my husband came home from Sam's Club with this green distressed cabinet ..I think it looks fabulous in the foyer !
I left up my coffee filter wreath and the little glitter house vignette ..
I used a vintage scale topped with a vintage silver pedestal bowl and another glitter house ..I hung a cross stitch ornament from the bowl..
I filled the vintage tool box with greenery from the tree :) snowflakes , a pair of childrens ice skates and a burlap bow and cardinal.

I put the little glitter house vignette on this small sled..

I wasn't sure about the green color , at first but now I really like it !
By the front door , I have a chalkboard , and some little skate ornaments and another cross stitch snowman piece..
 lanterns, and glittery birdhouses..
I am keeping the burlap and flocked greenery garland up until at least the end of January and also the owl tree..

Winter In The Kitchen

Good morning ! Its definitely a cold one here -17 ! All my Christmas is down and put away..sad face.. Miss it all already !
I am sharing our kitchen decorated for winter .. I kept the flocked garland up over my hutch and filled the inside with snowmen..

These two winter vignettes are on the counters .. I used pinecones , snowflakes , silver glitter branches, burlap and ice skates in this thrift store basket.
I used a snowman cookie jar on top of the vintage scale , with more silver branches, snowflakes a chalkboard and a cross stitch ornament..

The view from the family room into the kitchen, with the newly winterized chalkboard, and the Anthropologie knockoff wreath now is hanging with a burlap ribbon..

The dining room has winter decorations too, and hopefully I will show you that tomorrow !

I painted these chargers with chalkboard paint and wrote" let it snow "and drew snowflakes around the edges.. I used my Debbie Mumm snowman plates on top of my Dollar Tree white plates. My winter subway art table runner is also on the table..
There is a new winter chalkboard design on the silver tray on top of the hutch..
For the centerpiece on the table I used a silver lantern filled with pinecones, snowflakes and more silver branches. A burlap bow and tweed ice skates hang from the lantern ..There's a snow scene in a mason jar all on top of a pedestal..
If you missed the kitchen decorated for Christmas its here..

I have been crocheting more of those square scarves ! So fun and easy ! The navy and black have sparkly yarn and the top one is a grey blue variegated. There was a cream and gold sparkly one too , but my daughter has already taken it :)

The big ( real ) tree is coming down today , garbage day is tomorrow and I wanted to enjoy it for all the days I could ! I always keep up 2 trees for the month of January , Can't just go cold -turkey treeless ! This year I kept up the owl tree on the stairs and the snowman tree in the family room .

My first cross stitch ornament for 2014 , of course its  Prairie Schooler ( there's a lot of stitches in that little ornament !!
