Christmas Chalkboards and The Pioneer Woman

Can I tell you how much I am loving decorating for Christmas with chalkboards ?

This one is a frame that my daughter bought at Goodwill ,chalk painted the frame cream and  painted the glass with chalkboard paint and I chalked this design on this morning for her.. The next frame I also used for Fall decorating .. it was purchased at a rummage sale , I had a board cut to fit it that I painted with chalkboard paint . Both of these frames are pretty big !

I used these 3 thrifted  trays , painted with chalkboard paint to do these holiday designs. The top one is in my foyer, the middle in the kitchen by the base of the tree,

and this one on top of the hutch .

This Silent Night design is under the tree in the dining room. Its a frame that we also painted the glass, and chalk painted the frame.
This little frame , I painted the frame cream, painted the glass with chalkboard paint , glued the little wreath and bow on. Its in the kitchen on a silver tray with a little vignette.
Isn't it just the cutest ?

This Joy To The World is in the foyer ..this was one of the wood shapes I used in the fall ...simply painted with chalkboard paint.
Here is another wood shape from my Fall decoating in a little vignette in the kitchen..
I got this frame yesterday at the Goodwill, painted it cream and painted the cardboard backing with the chalkboard paint ..It worked and looks great !

Two days ago I decided I needed some chalkboard ornaments on one of my trees.. I bought some wood shapes at Michaels, painted them with chalkboard paint, and used  white sharpie marker to act as the chalk ( so I can reuse them next year ) I had to go over the letters a couple times with the marker to make the words dark enough. I added some red gingham for hanging and bows.. Absolutely adorable !

I used them on my candy cane kitchen tree , I think they are the perfect addition to make this tree even better :) I added 4 more of them to the tree this morning and forgot to take another photo.. I thought it could just use a few more....

This last chalkboard was a piece of wall art from the goodwill , no glass, just a very hard , kind of like cardboard backing. I painted it cream, and then used the chalkboard paint.. added some glittery greenery , a burlap bow, and a jingle bell.
So yesterday my daughter and I drove to Naperville, its about and hour 15 minutes away...we spent the day shopping at thrift stores, pier one, pottery barn ( so many things for inspiration there !) At 4:30 we went and picked up our books from Andersons Bookshops, for our book signing with Ree Drummond.. So exciting ! We were # 351 and 352 in line ! They said they were going up to 700 ! We went and shopped in downtown Naperville, lots of cute shops !  .. at 6:30 we went back to the bookstore to wait our turn.. we finally got to meet her at 10:15 !

We were so excited to meet her .. She was super nice, super cute ! It was a fantastic way to spend the day !
I have been decorating for Christmas all week , I have 9 trees finished , 2 upstairs that need to be done and the real one that we will get in a week or two. I will be back next week to start showing you my trees ! It has been so different decorating this year because of the remodel , all the openness makes it so much better !
Thanks as always for your visits and nice comments ! I love to hear from you !

The Stockings Were Hung

The Christmas decorating has started ! This is our family room mantel .. I love how it turned out !
I made the sign from a piece of plywood. I wrote the words in pencil , and then just painted them and added LOTS of glitter ! Love the bling :). I used a foam stamp for the snowflakes. The two big snowflakes are from the Dollar Tree. The lit houses are from Home Goods.. They are battery operated but I didn't want to worry about batteries so we poked a hole in the back and just stuck a couple lights in each one. There are 2 garlands, one is pure white the other is green with flocking and pinecones. I made all the stockings.. They are counted cross stitch and each one takes me about a year to finish stitching. I added a white garland to the ribbon that holds the stockings.

Thanks for stopping by ! I will be back with more Christmas !

Faux Chalkboard Table Runner and Burlap Centerpiece

Today I am showcasing my Joann Fabrics #turkeytablescapes project ! Since chalkboards and burlap are so popular I used both !! Come on into the dining room ! This will be our first Thanksgiving with our newly remodeled dining room and new dining room set ! I am so excited about this project !
I made this tablerunner from 2 yards of black broadcloth ,and just sewed a 2 inch seam, down the length of the fabric.turned right side out and ironed it... you could even use fabric glue if you don't sew.. I then tried to use white paint markers but those were not giving the look of chalk.. I ended up using acrylic paint and 2 different sized brushes .
I freehanded the whole thing , and tried to make both sides pretty even :)
Can I tell you how much I LOVE it !!! Doesn't it look like a chalkboard ? So exciting !

I sewed burlap strips to the ends, just pinned and sewed ..you could also just use fabric glue.

For the centerpiece I used a wire wreath form and burlap rolls.. It took about 1-1/2 burlap rolls for the wreath centerpiece.
You just make loops in the wire weaving them into each section and keep scrunching them down to make it really full.. couldn't be any easier ! No glue no nothing ,it just stays ..

Once the wreath was completed I added a glass cloche to the center with a crocheted pumpkin  ..I did make it larger than this , and added a real dried pumpkin stem ! I did not glue anything into the wreath so I can reuse it for some other holidays !
I also used the burlap wreath idea to make name tags for the seats .. Are they not just the cutest ! I found the little chalkboards in the wood section at Joanns.. I just looped burlap strips thru the wreath over the chair backs and stapled them together
I added some fall picks to the burlap wreath ..They are almost black berries ...go perfectly! And they were 70 % off !!
I do have a confession to make , I don't do Thanksgiving decorations! By Thanksgiving my Christmas has been up for about 2 weeks ! But with this being black and white I can use it for Thanksgiving ..So for the first time in a long time Thanksgiving will be on the table :)
You can find all the burlap , wire wreath forms, fall picks, fabric and acrylic paint at Joann Fabrics ! This is one of my favorite projects EVER and I appreciate Joann Fabrics inviting me to participate ! I received compensation for this post , but all opinions are my own .. Here is a coupon and a link to Joann Fabrics Craft Catalog ..

Fall Is Back !

This weekend all the Halloween decorations came down and the Fall went back up ! I turned the pumpkin topiary around so you can't see they are carved. Fall sign and decomesh wreath are back up for maybe 2 weeks until the Christmas decorating starts !
I put a new design on this thrift store silver tray that I painted with chalkboard paint. Its sitting on my Walmart faux olive bucket with branches from the yard.

My second fall mantel is decorated with alot of real pumpkins and gourds, leaf and berry garlands, hydrangeas from the yard, I turned my Halloween Subway Art over and painted the word Harvest on the back :) sprinkled it with glitter ..and the Fall Book Page Banner

Last week my daughter and I went to an estate sale, and I got this 2 tiered wrought iron basket.. Its sitting in the family room with a couple pumpkins and a burlap bow.. The side table in the family room has a Book Page Pumpkin , ceramic turkey, and scarecrow..

The dining room has the Easy Fall Table Runner and some sweater pumpkins ..
I also got the little cream pedestal bowl last week at the Salvation Army.. Its the perfect size for this pumpkin.

All the Halloween decorations are down in the kitchen and there's just a few Fall touches.. The pumpkin plate, the pumpkin canister, sweater pumpkin and a little fall chalkboard on the shelves.
The hutch has the vintage scale and pumpkin gourds, and a fall garland on the top..

The Fall Tablerunner  on the kitchen table with the cute owl cookie jar from Walmart !

I am finishing up my #turkeyTablescapes project for Joann Fabrics and will be back with it and a coupon tomorrow !
