Chalkboards and Candy Canes Kitchen Tree

 Happy Monday!
My second tree is the tree that is in our kitchen decorated with chalkboards and candy canes.. For the past 6 years I have used a fat white tree and once we removed part of the wall in the kitchen it was just too big. So I found this white pencil tree at Target and it is the perfect size for this area..

 There is even one stitched chalkboard ornament on the tree ..I need more of those!( Hands On Design Just Cross Stitch Magazine)
The bottle brush candy canes are my favorites!

For the tree "skirt"I bought a basket at the Goodwill $2.99 ..cut off the handle..spray painted it dark grey and then dry brushed it with cream paint Cut a hole in the top and stuck the tree pole in it then into the tree stand which is mostly inside the basket ..

To top the tree I used this burlap red gingham star I found at Hobby Lobby a long time ago and some red and white berry picks from Michaels..

and there is the Ice skate tree in the background..

The Ice Skate Tree

 I finally got a new tree for all my ice skate ornaments ..and here it is! I got it at Walmart ..I went for the flocked tree (without lights ..used my own )and I think it looks perfect with all the ice skates!

 I used 2 different red plaid ribbons for decorating..

 Since I was a figure skater I have always collected ice skate ornaments.. I have so many fun skate ornaments and I love taking them out every year..

 I used a basket I bought at a flea market for 50 cents for 3 of them ..I was using this for a waste can in my laundry room but since I cut the bottom out of it I can't use it for that any more :) I used a vintage wood crate to sit it on to make the tree taller..The base is surrounded by more skates!
Don't you just love the basket on the bottom ?

 It sits in the corner of the dining room and I am loving the look of the flocked tree in there!

Finishing Stitchy Ornaments

Happy Saturday!
 Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! This morning I decided to finish the ornaments I had stitched through this year.. Most are from Country Cottage Needleworks.. The Fa La La ornament I finished with a thrift store sweater and then made Pom poms and a bow out of grey yarn  ..

Merry Merry was finished with red gingham on the bias and white Pom Pom trim ..a green gingham bow for hanging

Little House Needleworks Sleigh Bells is finished with green and burgundy plaid homespun.. A burlap ribbon on the top for hanging.

The stockings were hung uses another thrift store sweater and plaid flannel ribbon..

I believe in Santa is from Just Cross Stitch magazine a couple years ago .. It is on a green gingham with that same plaid flannel ribbon trim at the top..

This birdhouse ornament is finished with red ticking in a tag shape with a red check vow and a brown strip ribbon for hanging..

More thrift store sweater was used on O come let us adore him .. I also made more Pom poms and a bow from yarn topped with a red button.. The flannel red plaid ribbon is used for hanging ..

And lastly these snow people on red ticking with that same red plaid flannel ribbon ..

Here they all are .. They are stitched on 28 count tea/coffee dyed Monaco

A Football Weekend in Las Vegas

Good morning !

Last Friday ( right before it snowed 15 inches here!) we flew to Vegas for the weekend.

My son was playing football at UNLV on Saturday night , so on Saturday we went to the Bellagio to see their Fall decorations..

It was beautiful .. Just wish I could have seen it decorated for Christmas! From what I read they don't decorate for Christmas until the first week ofDecember. 

We also went to the famous pawn shop from Pawn Stars on the History channel..

And downtown to Freemont Street.

The weather was great all weekend .. It did get pretty chilly at night! 

San Diego State won 52-14! They will be playing their last regular season game this weekend and then in the Miuntain West Championship the following week against Air Force. It's been an exciting season ! 

Air plane rides are good for one thing! Stitching! I got some more stitched  on my Lizzie Kate Jingles!

Four More Prairie Schooler Santa's on the Tree

Good Morning! 

I finally got around to finishing the four Prairie Schooler Santa's I stitched this year .. I was hoping to finish up all the yearly Santa's but I still have 4 left ! 

I always finish these pretty simply since I want the Santa's to be the stars!

Christmas Galvanized Tiered Tray 2015

 Good Morning!
I am here today with another of my favorite seasonal decorations! The galvanized tiered tray I got at Sam's Club 2 years ago..It is sitting on the end of the counter in our kitchen..

 It is so fun to add all things Christmas to it to see such a wonderful addition to our Christmas home!There is a chalkboard front and center.. Fitz and Floyd Santa salt and pepper shakers.. BHG at Walmart deer salt and pepper shakers in a wreath  ( they are the cutest!)..vintage cookie cutters

 pinecones..greenery..sparkly ornaments..chalk painted mason jars..a little mason jar ornament hanging off the side..

 The back has bottle brush trees..a glittery putz like house..more glittery ornaments..and if you look at the photo below an army man of my grandsons..The big boys around here are always trying to photobomb my photos with things like this :)

I just love this tiered tray decorated for Christmas !
