A Halloween Pumpkin

 Good morning!
I have been a finishing fool :) this week! This is another of Chelsea's pieces.. it is from Threadwork Primitives..Jack in the Hat
It is stitched on grey coffee/tea dyed Monaco ..
I mounted it on sticky board ( sticky, sticky, sticky!) :) and then tore some orange homespun and ruffled it around the outside ..I found the pumpkin at Walmart , and used a magnet on it in case she wants to stitch a fall piece to be able to switch it out.. I added a yoyo I made from a fall homespun plaid to the top ..and a bow from twine .. Very  simple finish but so cute!

Grilled Lemon Chicken and White Sauce

Here it is .. the grilled lemon herb chicken and white sauce for dipping recipe!
I use a gallon size  zip loc bag and added 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts that I slice in half horizontally
1/2 cup olive oil
zest and juice from 1 lemon
salt and pepper
red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons each fresh chopped  oregano and basil.. I only make this recipe with fresh , so if you are using dried herbs the amounts need to be lessened .. the fresh herbs make a huge difference ..
I marinate the chicken for 30-45 minutes..
Then cook it on the grill until cooked all the way thru ..

To make the white sauce  you will need
 1/2 cup mayonnaise
zest from one lime plus the juice
pinch of salt and pepper
1 tablespoon each  fresh oregano and basil chopped small,, mix it all together and refrigerate until the chicken is ready .. my family loves this "sauce" on everything.. chicken, roasted potatoes , vegetables, italian sausage  etc.. It just tastes like summer!
when the chicken is thoroughly cooked squeeze 1/2 of a lemon on top and grate Parmesan or Romano cheese on the top .. top with a few sprigs of oregano and basil .. It is quick and very easy and everyone will love it!

Happy Fall Y'all!

 Good morning!
I finished stitching this Happy Fall Y'all from Country Cottage Needleworks this week and finished it up last night onto my vintage cupcake pan ...
I love this so much and think it is just a perfect way to finish it!
it is charted for DMC but I used Classic Colorworks in the colors shown above ..
I mounted it on sticky board and used black check homespun on sticky board for the backing.. a magnet holds it to the pan.. I made a bow from orange gingham ribbon and black plaid homespun.. the pick has a bunch of acorns on it and compliments all the acorns in the chart .. so cute! This was one of my stitchmaynia starts and it is my 11th maynia finish .. not too bad!

Summer ABC'S

Good morning!
Summer ABC'S from Little House Needleworks is all finished and on display! I finished stitching it last week and finally got around to finishing it yesterday .. I had to paint the shutter ..it just did not look good in the brownish color with the red, black and yellow..so I chalk painted it yesterday with linen white and sanded the edges a little ..It looks amazing!

I mounted the stitching on sticky board .. I  have to put 2 pieces together because it does not come long enough ..

I used black gingham on another piece of sticky board ..I add ribbon ties and tie it to the shutter for changing out the seasons .. There is a magnet at the top to change out the bows ..

These are the colors I used .. I did switch a lot and switched a couple words..
I love it and love it on the vintage shutter in my kitchen ..

Sunflowers on the Mantel

Good morning!
The mantle is all set for the rest of the summer and I think these two approve :)
I drew the main chalkboard with just some sunflowers and the word summer and the little chalkboard with the word sunflowers.. It hangs on a piece of vintage fence from a flea market.
I found the black check and burlap garland at Hobby Lobby ..there is also a sunflower garland ..a cotton stem garland and chicken wire ribbon ,,
sunflowers top the lanterns .. a vintage scale has a basket full of sunflowers on top ..this is my stitching chair so most nights this is where you will find me ..I cut the hydrangeas from my bushes the other day and they are in water to make sure they dry perfectly .. they are huge!

This happened and Ronnie was not going to be left out ..
I think they both know how popular they are :)
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Fast and Easy Chicken Caprese

Good morning!
If you have lots of cherry tomatoes and basil you need to make this for dinner! It is so good I have made it twice this week already!
What you need..
boneless skinless chicken breasts ( I split them in half so they are thinner and cook faster )
salt and pepper
3 Tbsp. olive oil and 1 tbsp. of butter
handful of fresh basil
heaping tablespoon of brown sugar
about 2 cups sliced in half cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
mozzarella cheese
Using a big frying pan with your butter and olive oil melted add your chicken that has been seasoned with salt and pepper on both sides.. cook until almost all the way done ..mine were about 7 minutes a side because they are thin..
cut your cherry tomatoes in half
and chop up your basil while your chicken is cooking ..

Pile up your chicken on the sides and add the vinegar to the middle of the pan .. add the brown sugar and the cherry tomatoes ..mix it up  a little bit and place your chicken back all over the pan ( try for a single layer so the cheese gets evenly distributed).. add most of the basil to the top of the chicken ( reserve a little for the finished dish ) then add the mozzarella cheese in slices or shreds all over the top of the chicken ..put a lid on the pan on low/ medium until the cheese is melted ..

we like ours on angel hair pasta ..with a sprinkle of Romano cheese ..make sure you add a little of the tomatoes and balsamic over the top .. so good and very fast and easy! Even my husband and son who don't like tomatoes love this recipe ..

My First Punch Needle!

 Happy Saturday!
Isn't this cow just the cutest!!!
This was my first time trying punch needle and I loved it ! I mounted it on sticky board and then onto a black gingham fabric covered sticky board .. It then got glued to a piece of barn wood.. I added a twine bow , a black gingham bow and a fall pick to the top..
I used a combination of DMC and Classic colorworks for the floss. I used a Morgan lapstand hoop in 10 and 7 inches ..and the Cameo Ultrapunch needle with the medium size needle . I love it and already have another project ready to start!
