The Witch Is In!

Happy Saturday!
This is Hallow's Eve at Raven Hollow... by With Thy Needle and Thread..
I had found this sign at Michael's and knew this design would be perfect for it..
I finished stitching it Thursday night ...and needed my husband to cut a board for it and drill holes in the shoes and the board to connect the sign to the stitching board.. He used wire that he made into little ringlets to attach it.

I used 28 count tea/coffee dyed evenweave .. Mostly Classic Colorworks floss ..and mounted the stitching on sticky board .. I used black homespun check mounted on foam board to back it.. I added a bow from plaid Halloween colors and the black homespun to the top..

Pumpkin Picking 2017

Good Morning all my pumpkin loving friends!
Yesterday was one of my favorite days of the year! Pumpkin Picking Day! Woo Hoo!
We go to a farm where we get a carload of pumpkins .. This year I only found one pink pumpkin but there were quite a few blue and white pumpkins..There weren't as many pumpkins this year I think because of  the bad flooding we had early in the summer ...and it hasn't rained here for I can't even tell you how long! Our grass is dry and brown! The temperatures have been in the high 8o's and 90's ..such unusual weather for us...yesterday it finally cooled down to the 70's!

I line the flower beds with the pumpkins .. this year the picking day was about 10 days later then usual!

a lot of these will be carved for Halloween..
Isn't Fall just the best !
 on the porch..
see all the brown patches in the yard.. we don't water the grass, just the flowers and plants.. hoping we get rain soon..It was nice yesterday though that the pumpkin fields were dry
Mums and pumpkins... Look at all those mum buds..

and of course Ronnie.. we don't take her with but she had to come out and make sure we did a good job! And I almost forgot to tell you that 105 pumpkins came home from the patch with us ..plus a few gourds!

Snow Days!

Hello friends!
Isn't this snow cute?!?
This is Snow Days from Country Cottage Needleworks.. My daughter stitched this and I finished it. I used a thrift store frame , and used the backing from the frame to mount buffalo check fabric on. I mounted her stitching on sticky board and glued it to the buffalo check covered board. The frame was painted with chalk paint and distressed with sandpaper..

I added pine branches to the top with red pom poms and black check homespun. I made a bow from red check ribbon, red plaid ribbon and black homespun.. It's stitched on 28 count tea/coffee dyed evenweave..

Autumn ABC's

Hello friends!
Yesterday I finished up the Little House Needleworks Autumn ABC's !
 Love that scarecrow!
This piece is long and skinny.. so it really needed something skinny to display it on.. So I found this shutter , and it is p-e-r-f-e-c-t! The shutter is painted a dark brown / grey ..(not sure if I will eventually paint it ) But it looks perfect with this Autumn piece.. It already had the chicken knob and also the knobs at the bottom.. It's a little chippy and old looking but you know I like my stuff old!

I mounted it on sticky board that I had to piece together because It wasn't long enough ..but it is not noticeable...I used foamboard covered with Fall colored plaid Homespun..and glued those 2 pieces together..

I added a strip of the greyish black homespun at the bottom with 3 covered buttons..a couple white pumpkin picks at the top and hung on the kitchen wall.. LOve it! I used 28 count tea/coffee dyed evenweave.. with all the called for Classic Colorworks floss
Please remember if you copy my finishing ideas that you be considerate and give a link to my blog or facebook page..

Kringle and Woolard

Good morning!
Kringle and Woolard are finally finished!

I mounted the stitching on sticky board, and did another sticky board with homespun..My son in law cut me a piece of barn wood that I mounted it on..
I added evergreen trim to the top and side ...I used torn homespun and plaid flannel ribbon for the bow..I added rusty jingle bells and stars.. and some red berries..
The chart is from Plum Street Samplers.. 28 count tea/coffee dyed evenweave.. and all Classic Colorworks threads..He was one of my Stitchmaynia starts..

Finally...Please be considerate ...if you copy my finishes and post them in public forums, give a link to my blog...or my facebook page.. it's only the right thing to do...I spend a lot of time coming up with unique finishes and share where I get things so you don't have to search ... that's it.. Pumpkin Spice Farm

Good morning friends..
My daughter Chelsea and I both received this new Pumpkin Patch farm chart from Cathy at Hands on Design .. so we both started and finished it!  We dyed light grey 28 count evenweave with brown Rit dye.. we didn't love it so then it got put in a pot with tea and coffee ..
It turned out perfect.. I used all Classic Colorworks flosses and Chelsea used DMC except for the purple/ grey lines ..those are in Classic Colorworks Rod and Reel..Her husband made us the frames with molding and chicken wire.. Chelsea painted the frames and dark waxed them..I mounted the stitched piece onto a piece of sticky board and used some tea dyed orange gingham for the backing. We used magnets and sheet metal so we can reuse the frame for another season.I made the bows with burlap, plaid ribbon, wired berry branches and fall leaves..

this weeks floss tube video..

Trick or Treat!

Good morning friends!
I had finished stitching this Trick or Treat from Prairie Schooler last year or the year before and I would display it in a wreath.. It wasn't my favorite finish but I loved the stitching!
Then.... I found this Happy Halloween wood sign at Walmart for $4.44 and it is just perfect for the stitching! My husband cut me a board and I painted it black ..He also drilled holes in the top and in the bottom of the sign.. The stitching was already mounted on sticky board , so I added a Halloween homespun fabric mounted to sticky board and then another sticky board covered with black ticking ..all 3 of those got hot glued together..I painted the board with chalkboard paint and then glued the stack of sticky board covered pieces to the top..

He made wire ringlets and attached both pieces together .. I made a bow for the top with black and white check, black check homespun some of the Halloween homespun and burlap..It will hang in the kitchen on the basement door when Halloween decorating gets underway ! Love, love, love it! It's stitched on 28 count tea/coffee dyed evenweave ..

A Teeny Halloween

Good morning!
This little tiny piece is from Lizzie Kate's Autumn smalls..This is another of my daughters pieces that I finished for her.

She found this silver tray ( maybe a butter dish) at a Good will.. this little piece fits perfectly in it! I used a Halloween colored plaid homespun for the back ,that I mounted on sticky board. I also mounted the stitching on sticky board. Then hot glued the 2 pieces together...I made a bow from burlap, and black gingham check.. Then added 2 covered buttons to the middle of the bow..It is very cute but tiny!
