Good morning!
I couldn't wait to finish these and get them out on display!
While I was in Hawaii I started this With THy Needle and Thread.. Witches Night Out , and finished it on the plane ride home..
I used a thrift store frame ( it was 25 cents ) ..spray painted it with chalkboard paint .. then I used Halloween colored Homespun fabric to mount over the mat board in the frame( on the bias) . I used stitcky needlework board to mount the stitching ..then glued that to the top of the homespun matboard.
Isn't this just the cutest pattern !
For now she is in the foyer sitting on the stack of thrifted picnic baskets..
The second piece is from Prairie Schooler .. I have worked on this on multiple airplanes and even sitting on the balcony in Hawaii.. I ran out of 3371 and had just a little bit to finish so I did that yesterday. I again used a frame from the thrift store .. This one was expensive though :) $2.99 .. It was gold so I dry brushed cream paint over the gold.

I just mounted the stitching on sticky needlework board and then mounted that on top of the frame . The opening was not big enough for it to fit inside. I also changed the colors in the stitching from an orange moon and house to gold .. I also changed the 13's in the corners to pumpkins.I used the same pumpkin the witch is holding for that.

I love all them, but especially the witches night out. Fabulous, my dear.
ReplyDeleteYOu are so creative and thrifty! I was jealous of your trip to Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteLovely!! I have changed Winter Wind that I am stitching on...sometimes it is fun to add our own touches.
ReplyDeleteYour home always looks so warm and inviting. I love the cross stitching. It adds just the right homemade touch.

As always, splendidly displayed! I love the plaid (on the bias) fabric you used as a backdrop on the first one. That turned out so cute! You definitely made the most of those long plane rides :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love the watering can and the cotton. I miss the cotton fields in GA. Great vignettes!
ReplyDeleteI love to see fun Halloween decor and your stitchery is adorably scary! Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteLovely!!! Mariuccia
ReplyDeleteI love them! I'm in awe of your creativity and am a big fan of your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful witch y finishes! Love how you frame your pieces, each piece is so unique and delightful.
ReplyDeleteYour finishes are gorgeous and I just love how you display them! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, love the witch and the pumpkins. I used
ReplyDeleteto cross stitch quite a bit. I need to get back to it!
Both are so great, Priscilla--I love how you always manage to find the perfect thrifty frame to mount each piece :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous stitching. XOX
ReplyDeleteI love your pieces. I especially like the first one, because of the homespun matting. Thanks for sharing how you framed, because that's always something that keeps me from making framed pieces. Your ideas were so clever! Also thank you for not having an embedded comment box, or I couldn't have left a comment! I came from supermom-no cape, the Stitchery Linky Party.
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed, and great framing ideas too.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that where I live, in New Zealand in the South Pacific, most of us do not celebrate or decorate with Halloween designs! Mind you - our seasons are opposite to yours. We are in Spring, with Summer not too far away!
I love your finishes. Witches night out is great. I have a Christmas angel that I want to mount similarly. Now I just have to get my butt in gear and do so.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! I love both of them, but the witches night out is so cute. Your entire vignette is great.
