DIY Sunflower Wreath

Woo Hoo Sunflowers ! They are blooming in our yard right now , so I thought it was time to take down the daisy wreath and make a sunflower wreath..

I used 3 bunches of sunflowers and just pulled the flowers off the stems and hot glued them into a grapevine wreath. I added a few of the leaves just scattered around and hot glued. I layed out all the sunflowers before I started glueing so I made sure it was pretty even. The bunches I got had a couple different sizes of sunflowers. I got them at Michaels , they were $7.99 a bunch and 40 % off ..plus right now theres a coupon for 20% more off your total purchase.

Couldn't have been easier ! I also added a black and white burlap check ribbon to hang it ..

It looks summery , but you could also go into early fall with this wreath.

I have sunflowers blooming in the vegetable garden that peek over the fence into the front yard .. This planting area is new this year , I love the hydrangea tree... There are 2 incrediball hydrangeas on the right side of the tree and all the way on the end is a pinky winky hydrangea thats starting to bloom ! Can't wait to see it fully bloomed ! I still need more perrenials and mulch , but for now it is looking pretty good !

I have alot of sunflowers that the birds and chipmunks plant for me , and all these in this coneflower patch are planted by the animals..

My zinnias are looking fabulous , I have so many patches of them growing ..wish I had acres of them growing !

In The Garden

Good morning ! Thought I would show you some of whats going on in my yard ..I got this ladder at an estate sale last week , and had the bird feeder from another estate sale last year , so my son screwed them together ..I put it in my blackberry patch and added a basket and bucket of flowers to the steps. The birds were already eating from it this morning . I am still trying to decide if I want to paint it or just let the wood weather.. Can't wait for that sunflower to open next to it ..Its a huge one !

My potatoes in pots have done great so far this year ...I got 10-1/2 pounds of yukon gold and white potatoes.. and a couple purple ones :) out of 3 small pots ..

Five pounds of red potatoes out of a large and medium pot. I still have 2 more big pots that will be ready soon , plus I have planted the pots again hoping for another crop ! These potatoes are so good ! Love them boiled with parsley and butter , and the kids love them cut up and fried !

I have been getting tons of zucchini and yellow squash , so I have made 2 big batches of zucchini casserole and put it in freezer bags for the winter.. We love this stuff and I am hoping that it will still be good after freezing. I left off the cheese , I will do that when I warm it up ..

This is 2 days worth of squash from the garden .. Last year I barely had any ..this year ALOT..My tomato plants are not doing well.. from what I read they have blight.. Too wet this year at first with so much heavy rain is what did it I think . I am still getting tomatoes but I don't think I will have as many as I usually get .

I finished the December wordplay, from With Thy Needle and Thread .. Only 2 months left and they will all be finished .. NOvember and January are the ones I have left :)

I picked my first bouquet of zinnias ..I can't even tell you how much I love going out every morning to see whats blooming ! Aren't the lime green ones pretty ? Look at this double headed zinnia ..two flowers on one stem !

Bessie and Gardening

Don't you just love the little cow cross stitch Bessie from Little House Needeworks ? My daughter has a cow obsession so she asked me to make her for her.. I just finished her today .

I used a thrift store frame that I chalk painted ,mounted the check fabric onto an 8 x 8 board ..then mounted the cow to a 6 x 6 board..

I have a chicken obsession but she looks cute with the chickens too :)

Some I phone photos from the garden.. Pretty much only zucchini and yellow squash coming from the garden right now..I got the baking dish below at the Good will and a matching oval one.. they are from Lenox and very expensive on Ebay and Etsy ..I paid $2.99 each !

Love all the hydrangeas in the front yard..

The zinnias are starting to open !

The back porch pots are growing like crazy !

July Stitching

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend ! I have been doing lots of yard work..and finally got around to mounting the July cottage ! I stitched these 3 pieces last year and just finished them this year ..

I used the off white painted mason jars again .. love these white chickens ..One came from Home Goods , the other from Hobby Lobby.

Both of these are mounted with magnets and sheet metal to be changed out every month ..

Love how this Prairie Schooler July turned out... I got the frame at Hobby Lobby and mounted fabric to a board , then mounted the stitching to another board. ..

Allk of these pieces are in the family room. I will be sad to put them away ..I just love patriotic stitching!

There is another chicken over in this vignette too:) I got the scale at a church rummage sale ..$5.00 for it and 2 vintage flour sifters..

Patriotic Sugar Cookies

Good afternoon !
Tomorrow is the 4th of July and there is flour and icing all over my kitchen :)

Love these colors on cookies ! I use the Mrs. Fields sugar cookie recipe , and made 2 double batches..I use wilton merengue p[owder for the royal icing and the recipe is in the can..

I didn't make any regular flag shapes this year , just every shape decorated as a flag..

Love the houses ..

Red, White and Blue In the Foyer

Good morning ! I can't beleive it's July 1st already ! Summer is just flying by ! I stitched up this little piece last night , its a Sampler Girl design ..I mounted it on needlework board , then onto a red gingham covered piece. I then glued it to the wood shape painted with chalkboard paint.

I painted a few mason jars with homemade chalk paint ..tied them with the red gingham fabric ..and added a couple little flags.

I have another chalkboard sitting on a wrought iron plant holder filled with faux daisies..

Love these mason jars ! I didn't feel like looking for sandpaper in the garage so I just used a butter knife for distressing :)

Love this little patriotic display in my foyer !
