Year Two of the Galvanized Tiered Tray

 Good morning!
If you read my blog regularly ...you know the galvanized tiered tray in my kichen is one of my favorite things to decorate for the seasons! Mine came from Sam's Club ..
So here is year 2 of the tray .. For late spring early summer last year it was filled with daisies and blue transferware ..
Chickens and chalkboards are always on display ..
Stars, flags and red, white and blue stars and flowers were added for the patriotic holidays..
even a little stitched piece in the front..
After the 4th of July ..it's time for sunflowers and more chickens!

Fall brought out the little owls...crocheted pumpkins, and lots of fall leaves and berries..
Trick or Treat!
Halloween was filled with Jack o Lanterns and purple sparkly flower picks..
The  Christmas tray has vintage cookie cutters.. lots of evergreen picks...sparkly ornmaments ..Fitz and Floyd Santas..my favorite deer salt and pepper shakers from BHG at Walmart..

After Christmas ..the Winter tray has a lot of bottle brush trees..snowmen ..flocked greenery
chalkboard and a little stitched piece..
This years Spring tray is filled with eggs..chickens..bunnies..tulips
 and of course a chalkboard!

A Stitchy Update ..

Good morning!
I finally finished up the last 6 of A Year In Chalk from Hands on Design.. I sent my Sister in law December thru May with the pedestal frame for Christmas .. I was hoping to have them all finished before Christmas but at least I got them finished before their month was ready to be put out :)

I had been working on this Prairie Schooler Summer Breeze chart last summer and ran out of time to finish it before summer was over so I started back in on finishing up the bottom portion last night. Just a little left to go!
I finished April from Prairie Schooler Can't wait til Friday to display it! May is all ready to stitch..
And finally I think in the next week or so Summer from Seasons in Chalk ( Just Cross Stitch Magazine ) Hands On Design and "me" will be out digitally ..I can't wait!

Springing Up The Burlap Wreath

Happy Saturday!
Hope you have exciting weekend plans!
Yesterday I decided to spring up the burlap wreath that hangs on the door to our basement..
I love ..love..love the faux cotton branches so I wanted to add some to the burlap wreath
This was how it looked before I changed it up..
I went to Michael's yesterday and got 2 pink flowering branches that look like cherry blossoms.. I also got the burlap colored gingham ribbon there for the bow.
I cut the long ends off the pink flowering branches and also cut the long ends off of two cotton branches. I then used floral wire to attach the bundles of pink flowers and cotton together. One cotton, one pink flowers wired in the middle. I then wired the bundle to the wreath form ..made my bow and I left the wire long enough to attach the bow to the wreath with it. I used one spool of the ribbon for the bow ..I might go back and get another to kind of weave around the wreath a little more .

But I am loving the easy change up.. So nice to have a fresh wreath!

Book Page and Chalkboard Garland

 Good Morning!!

I did a little book page DIY  .. I was originally making a garland for my family room fireplace mantel .. but decided this was better for my kitchen hutch..
I cut 4 layers of flowers from an old book for each flower ..hot glued them together an added a white pom pom..
I made 2 separate garlands..one with the black gingham ribbon ..it has the little mini chalkboards on
and the second is a just the  book page flowers on twine ..
The little chalkboards are from the Target dollar spot.. They came 3 to a package for $1.00..in the eggs or bunnies.
The chalkboards have a clothespin on the back ( and are already painted) so I just clipped them on the ribbon..
I love how they look on the kitchen hutch!

Stitching Daffodils

 Good morning!
I finished stitching this Prairie Schooler Daffodils last night and finished it up this morning..Yesterday I went to Michaels and found this pedestal ( frame I guess you could call it..) I stitched it on 28 count tea/coffee dyed Monaco ..I used all the called for thresds except I changed the white to ecru..and I didn't stitch the border around the piece.
It is sitting in the foyer with the March cottage from Country Cottage Needleworks ..A vintage scale ..birds and nests and I have still kept my little white lights from Christmas on the chest ... love the happy little lights ..and it is also snowing so why not have Christmas lights :)

This is what it looks like ..It was around $12.00 on sale.. Of course I want to stitch all the Prairie Schooler months so this frame will work perfectly to change them out.. I thought about using the back side of the frame and painting it because I didn't want the stitching so far in that you wouldn't be able to see it.

I ended up cutting a cardboard piece from a bolt of fabric the right size to put in the frame .. It doesnt matter that its not wide enough I just needed something to be able to adhere the next piece to ..that would raise it our of the frame enough to be seen.
So after that was glued in with hot glue ..I cut a piece of sticky mat board ( the size of the inside of the frame) and covered it with burlap .. It fits in there very snugly and I used a little bit of hot glue to adhere that to the cardboard bolt. I then mounted my finished stitching on another piece of sticky mat board ..then another piece of mat board with the blue gingham in a little bigger size. I glued the stitching to the blue gingham mat board . I used magnets on the frame and small pieces of sheet metal on the back of the gingham/ stitching ..and there you go... a way to change out the months!

Every month will probably have a different backing material but everything goes with burlap!

I also dry brushed grey acrylic paint on the top scrolly thing because it comes in a very royal blue .. You can still see a little of the blue peeking out but I like that look.

Hope you have a great weekend!
