This morning as I was looking thru my blog list .. I saw some really cute pumpkins made from thrifted sweaters.. The blog post is here.sweater pumpkins and a link to a tutorial http://smallfryandco.blogspot.com/2010/10/white-sweater-pumpkins-tutorial.html
So, off I went to the Good will store, I couldn't find any patterned sweaters so I bought 1 white sweater and 2 orange ones. I made the big pumpkins from the body of the sweaters and used the sleeves for the smaller pumpkins. You can get 3 pumpkins out of each sleeve, 1 pumpkin from the body of the sweater. They are very simple to make. I cut some small branches for the stems, used hot glue and covered with twine. . I then covered wire with twine using hot glue..Then wrapped that twine covered wire around another piece of branch to make the spirals. I used felt for the leaves and also inserted a piece of wire in them.
I got that pumpkin plate at the thriftstore today too.

Those sweater pumpkins are adorable, Priscilla!! Your dining table display looks so perfect for the season (especially with your pretty golden yellow walls!!)...
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice at the pumpkins thought they were real! Well, these are better than the real ones as they can be displayed all year round, or put away and used for the following autumn...win, win!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea!! I love it. They just look so elegant. Your display of them is beautiful especially the center piece.
ReplyDeleteI found you on Cottage Style Party.

Such a fun idea! So much better than what I thought at first - making sweaters FOR pumpkins! Most of my knitting does look like it's made for a gourd.
ReplyDeleteSuper darling! Thanks for linking up to the party :)
