A Tray full of Red White and Blue!

Hello friends!
This is Every Heart from Country Cottage Needleworks.. I started this last year and finished it up this spring and finally finished it today ..

***Please remember if you copy my finishing ideas that you be considerate and give a link to my blog or facebook page..****
I decided to use the flea marker tray that I have used for other seasonal projects .. The tray was tarnished silver but I painted it with linen white chalk paint ..
I added a blue buffalo check covered sticky board to the back of the stitched piece that was also mounted on sticky board .. I then made 2 ruffles of red ticking stripe fabric to the bottom and the top

Hickory Sticks, Desert Mesquite, Blue Corn, Bamboo, and Licorice Red were the floss colors I used.. I stitched it one 28 count light blue evenweave that I coffee tea dyed ..

I used lambs ear type greenery , added some daisies and a big red white and blue plaid bow .. On top of the bow I added another daisy with a covered button in the blue plaid ..so cute! I also added some strips of the blue check fabric streamers to the topper ..for extra dimension...
I did hot glue the topper onto the top of the tray , since it is metal it will peel off to add another seasonal design ..
I used magnets in the tray and washers on the back of the project ..

The blue buffalo check fabric came from this bundle ..Kitchen Wovens Fabric Bundle-http://shrsl.com/1lw72

Love this finish. Maybe you could work with Fat Quarter Shop to put together some fat quarter bundles of your favorite ginghams and tickings and/or ribbons.

I enjoy all of the cross stitch projects you and Chelsea share. It is very inspiring. I have a few projects stitched, ready and waiting for your 'finishing' tutorials.
