Fresh Eggs Farm ..Chalk On The Farm

 Hello friends!
I am so proud to share this new chalkboard to cross stitch collaboration with Cathy from Hands On Design! You have all heard me talk about Chalk on the Farm.. and this is the first in the series Fresh Eggs Farm!

The chalkboards that the designs are based on..I stitched mine on 28 count black Monaco .. I did make a couple changes .. I liked the window better unstitched with just a few diagonal lines across it .. I also exchanged the eggs for a flower and a few smyrna stitches on the small piece ..I also did not do any 1/4 stitches on the chickens beaks or heads .. I did the whole stitch and they are fine :)
I did have a little trouble finding the right frame for this project .. But once I got this one at home it couldn't be more perfect! It is from Hobby Lobby in the farm section .. The top part says Farm Sweet Farm under my black gingham. This is the same frame we used for Chelsea's Farmers Daughter piece.
I mounted black gingham on sticky board to fit the small opening.. I attached a couple magnets to that and added metal washers to the back of the fresh eggs "sign".. easy to change out for the next seasonal farm !

I used rusty chicken wire ribbon folded in half because it was too wide ,. black gingham check ribbon and black ticking fabric torn to make the bow.. 2 cotton stems were also used ..I did put the whole bow on magnets , the backing of the frame is galvanized metal so if I decide to add a different bow I can just switch it out!

I also bought the little farmhouse sign at Hobby Lobby for the top.
I moved the seasons in chalk piece into the family room and this has taken its place on the dining room wall..
 Chelsea's chickens make great models don't they ? :)

This is ADORABLE ! I want to pack my little red truck right now & move to your house!!! Is there any chance you might add some "cows" to one of your designs???? They would be right at home in my "faux farm". You & Chelsea have made me soooo glad I never got rid of my cross stitch supplies from the 80's. I am really enjoying "working" at it again. ("Like it's my job"--ha! ha!). Thanks for all you do to inspire us.

I have sadly resisted these designs (although I love them) because I have such trouble stitching on black but somehow I am going to have to try this one-my daughter has chickens and this would make a sweet gift-so bring on the sunlight the Ott light, the magnifiers and the foster grant readers!,
