A Stitchy Spring Wreath

 Happy Monday !
I finished stitching this Prairie Schooler spring from Prairie Seasons last week .I have to admit to you I did not like this piece while I was stitching it until I got to the 2 robins on top ... Don't know why I didn't like it I just didn't!
Today I went to Hobby Lobby to find a way to display it.
I wasn't loving it in any of the frames ..then I thought since I plan to stitch the other 3 seasons..maybe a wreath .. so I went to the wreath section and this grapevine wreath seemed the perfect size!
Right now I have it hanging on the kitchen hutch ..not sure if it will stay here or maybe get moved to a door.( inside door)
I mounted the stitching on needlework sticky board ..then used another piece of the sticky board for some green gingham fabric. I glued the stitching to the green check with hot glue. I then glued a strip of burlap to the back of the green check board and used that burlap to tie it to the wreath. I also wove a couple strands of blossoms to the outside . When I am ready for the summer piece I just have to untie the burlap and take off the strands of blossoms ..I love the way this way of displaying it and can't wait for the summer version ! Well.. what do you think ?

Broccoli, Bacon and Cheese Salad

 Good morning ! Happy Sunday!
Today is our middle Grandson's 3rd birthday .. and I am bringing one of our family's favorite salads to the party !
There are lots of versions of this broccoli salad and this is mine .. I first had this salad a few years ago at my sister in law in Connecticut's house and came home and searched for the recipe..
Here is how I make mine.. You will need :
Broccoli Bacon Cheese Salad

2 heads of fresh broccoli ( I use stems and all ..Just cut off the very bottoms)
1 cup of mayonnaise
2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups shredded Colby jack cheese
1 pound bacon cooked crispy and crumbled
Mix the mayo, vinegar and sugar in a bowl ( I do mine right in the serving bowl) Then add the chopped broccoli..get that all mixed in the dressing.
 Add the shredded cheese
and the bacon .. Refrigerate a couple hours to get the flavors to mix .. Hope you try this ..it is super easy and so good!
I can't believe this guy is 3 today .. He is so fun and just a joy!
I have been working on my daughters granny square blanket ( a little)
Made some chocolate covered strawberries ..drizzled with white chocolate..
and made Bretton's Birthday cookies!

Boxwood Wreath Chalkboard

 Good morning!
I showed you this frame that had been made over to a chalkboard a couple weeks ago.. I wanted a boxwood wreath for it ,but they are so expensive!
So I googled making one.. Martha Stewart has a video on YouTube ..and its so easy !
Here is the chalkboard boxwood wreath ..
this was my first version but I didn't like the big lettering ..
So I took it down this morning and redid it..
To make the wreath you need fresh boxwood ..we have a couple bushes in the yard.. a wire wreath form and floral wire. The wreath form was 2.99 and the wire the same price. All I did was use the wire to wrap the pieces of boxwood to the wreath form .. It took about 15 minutes including the cutting of the boxwood..
Home Sweet Home is written 3 times around the wreath
and I finished it off with a Monogram B

I wrapped a small burlap strip around the wreath and stuck it under the frame for the wreath to hang.
Yesterday was my daughters rescue pup Daisy's first birthday .. She made her pup cakes :)
She and all the other dogs loved them !

Five Great recipes ! It's Time to Cook!

Good morning !
When I got my new Kitchenaid  mixer , my old one went to live at my daughters house .. She has been baking up a storm ! Here are some of the recent recipes she has made..
This Amish Bread recipe is from the Allrecipes.com website and they featured her photo on their Instagram page.. My daughter definitely needs a blog ;) This photo was taken at her house the rest were taken at mine ..
Amish White Bread

Peanut butter eggs that turned into peanut butter balls   these peanut butter balls were supposed to be egg shaped but she just went the easy way and rolled them into balls ..
Snickerdoodle Apple bread

This apple bread is fabulous ..

These brownie cookies are amazing .. these will be made alot around here!

This pasta salad is my contribution to this recipe parade .. This salad dressing has become a must have in our home.. I make mine with Romano cheese instead of Parmesan ..It is amazing! Pioneer Woman recipe Creamy Italian Dressing

For the pasta salad I used :
Italian Pasta Salad
1 box rotini ( cooked drained and then run under cold water until chilled.)
chopped baby carrots
can of black olives sliced
can of artichoke hearts (drainedand cut up)
grape tomatoes ( quartered)
slices of pepperoni ( cut in little strips)
grated mozzarella cheese
Creamy Italian dressing
Just add it all to a bowl and mix it up .. It is fabulous.
I also use this dressing for green salads.. It has become a favorite around here!

Have a great weekend ! It is Spring!

R is for Rabbit

Here is my Prairie Schooler  R is for Rabbit finished !
Over the winter I stitched this winter sampler from Little House needleworks.. I used this thrifted frame for that piece and decided to use it again for the Rabbit..
I whitewashed the frame with acrylic paint in tan and off white. I didn't want the whole frame to be white..
I covered a piece of needlework board with the green gingham check and just set it in the frame..I used a magnet on the green fabric and a small piece of sheet metal on the back of the stitching to hold it in place,
This way if I have another design that will fit in the frame I can use it again..and the winter design can go back in it for the winter.
It is on display on a table by the front door in the foyer..with a vintage watering can filled with dried hydrangeas from the garden ..white tulips and a bird in a china cup..

This mornings sunrise with the clouds..all the snow is melted..but we are back to cold temperatures!
A blue hour sunset from the dining room..
My stitching assisitant asleep on the job..
