Halloween in the KItchen & Our Updated Hutch

It's Halloween in our kitchen ! I added to the Fall decorations with some Halloween pieces .. I added the Fitz and Floyd Jack O lantern Cookie Jar to my pedestal platter on the table. Do you notice anything different with the hutch and the chairs ?

On the wall coming into the kitchen from the Family room ,I hung this chalkboard .. I got the frame at a garage sale and got the nice people at Home Depot to cut a board to fit. I got the chalk art design from Pinterest, another phantom link that went to spam. I wish there was a way to stop that !
Last week my daughter was on vacation , so we tackled the painting of my oak hutch. We even painted the mirrors ! The back I used the same grey paint from our living room /dining room and matched the cream on the outside to the little cabinet on the wall. It took a couple coats of the grey and 3 coats of homemade chalk paint for the cream. Here is the  recipe for the chalk paint.   I got new knobs at Home Depot and right now there is no glass in it , we are having new glass cut because the glass was dated leaded glass.
It makes such a huge difference in the kitchen !

Then on Friday we decided to go to a couple of Estate sales , one of them was a block away .. These chairs were sitting in the garage . I asked the person in charge how much , because I didn't see a tag and she said $50.00 but you can have them for $35.00 for the 4 of them ! They are good sturdy chairs , and I can't even believe the great bargain we got !
The shelf on the wall got most of the Halloween decorations..

I finished the Lizzie Kate Halloween ABC's cross stitch last year .. I found this rustic frame at Hobby Lobby , added some ribbon to the sides of the cross stitch and framed it .. Love it !
I had to show you the zinnias we are still picking. My plants are huge and full of flowers. At another Estate sale on Friday we got the cute little square Ball jars ..I have never seen that shape or size before .

Added a Halloween towel to my scale vignette..
I am in love with this yellow scale I got at the same Estate sale as the jars. It was marked $25.00 but the glass was broken in half. I asked if they would take $15.00 , happily they did ! I came home put it in a plastic bag and hit the piece of glass with a hammer to get it out. cleaned it up and here she is ! So cute !

On the counter I added this basket .. there is a silver pedestal holding the pumpkin sitting on some berry picks. .a stack of plates with a little pumpkin , a mason jar of candy corn and a Halloween towel. I got the basket at the Salvation Army for $2.40 ! It is big and cute !

My wrought iron tiered baskets still are full of Fall goodies, and I added the Owl cookie jar to that end of the counter.
Hope you made it to the end...Lots of pictures in this post :) Thanks for stopping by and your nice comments !

Your kitchen looks so warm and welcoming, Priscilla--just love the way you changed the look of the hutch. And, wow, what a deal on those chairs--I need to start going to yard sales again :)

The LK finish looks great all framed up with the ribbon trim--what a fun display :)

Priscilla, I love the new coat of white and grey on your hutch! Really brightens up the room. What a bargain on those chairs too. I made the baby ABC sampler years ago for a grand baby. I know how much work it is. Love the Halloween one. I might have to look for that pattern. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Jann

I love your hutch. I painted my hutch in the kitchen to. I painted it black because the table I put it on was already black. I am torn about repainting it. I think it would be a lot of work. But judging by your hutch it would probably be worth the effort. Lovely fall decorations. Everything looks wonderful ....Candy
